Do you think this truck could make it through Barrett? It might fare better than the stock JKU Rubicon that a EDH S&R trainee was trying to take through. It was hilarious and very painful at the same time. He would NOT listen to anyone. His ego was in full control. Glad we were on a no agenda trip as they were in front of us. I don't think he made the Team.

I think I'm going to sell my 05. I paid $15K for it and figure I can get around $13K for it nearly 4 years later. Money well spent...
No. Just trying to get in touch with the seller is a challenge in this case.
Why are you selling yours?
I figure 160K miles is enough. time for another used truck probably...

Maybe me as well. If I can swing it, I'd be up for an easy day run where we aren't necessarily trying to get all the way in to the lake.

Probably won't be enough Posse members to make it an official run. I'm the official board lurker so I can't be, lol. If Joe goes, he wins Trail Boss by default.
I'll already be up there at a cabin, so I'll meet whoever goes at the trail head.

If I am not mistaken 82" is the limit of the posts. Have seen wider squish through, also go over. Others take an illegal route. I think you would be certain to have damage. Maybe others who have ran it could chip in. Your ability to wheel that fullsize is impressive. Don't know if I am going yet. hope to know by wed. pm. It appears this may or may not be an official club run.

Rear Locker should take you on the Rubicon and Barrett. The Jeep owners should be able to advise you better. Front Locker, axles and U-joints come to mind. Monster tires change everything and empty the wallet.

If there's one thing I'd say about this group it's that they error waaaaay on the side of caution. I'll catch some flack for this, but, I wouldn't hesitate to run either of those trails without a locker. You're going to have to work a bit harder and your risk of damage or breakage is definitely higher but both can be done without a locker and huge tires if you have a group of people willing to help, some patience, and are willing to do some hard work.

True. With patients and support (and at least 1 person in the group with a semi built rig), you can make most trails.
That being said, you'd be looking at leaning significantly on others to make it, so be honest of the limitations up front.
My rule of thumb is that if I'm not built enough to be out there on my own, I wouldn't run with other people. I always vowed I'd never be the "weakest link".
I remember seeing two guys headed up to strawberry when I was out in my jeep. Two Toyotas - a new truck and a new 4-runner. Both were bone stock and both were the higher end models and both were burgundy. About three hours later they passed me heading back down. The 4-runner had a shattered rear window and a huge dent in the driver-side rear quarter panel. The bumper had been smashed up into the body and the rear tail light was hanging out.
The truck had it's rear bumper dragging on the passenger side and also had a huge dent in the bed on the driver side. The truck was running a rear spare tire as well. Sure, you can make trails with rock stacking and patience. Strawberry is a fairly reasonable trail too...

No flack from me. Yes, we are a cautious group. Its been said that the worst part of Barrett is the first 100 feet and the Rubicon has bypasses around most of the tough spots. I say, go for it, as long the group knows before hand. There are lots of rigs without lockers in our group right now, maybe we should plan a Rubicon trip specifically for those rigs. It would be fun, but it would have to be soon.

I've also seen incredibly well built vehicles beat to death. Don't underestimate the driver in the equation.
