I will be hitting Blackwood Canyon to Ellis Peak for lunch on Aug 19th.  Trail is good for unmodified wrangler or budget boosted cherokee/4runner (easy).  After reaching the summit for lunch we will drive out either back north or continue south to the rubicon at miller lake to exit.  If everyone who shows up is 33s+ and a locker then we can go up Buck Lake Trail (difficult) to ellis peak and then down Blackwood Canyon.

Meeting point will be PDQ market in Tahoma at 10AM. 6890 West Lake Blvd. Tahoma CA 96142. This is a stones throw from where the rubicon exits to HWY 89. Get there early and get one of their giant sandwiches to take up the hill.  Parking may be tight so just get within CB range (channel 10) and check in with me.

Here is a link to the map if anyone is interested: https://theotherrubicon.com/ma.....ections/

For anyone going up friday, Blackwood canyon campsites are the only free sites around Tahoe.

Would be a long day but you could do both, only about an hour from tahoma to cisco grove.

I would love to do this run if you are ready to host a new guy grin

I don't want to be the only guy without lockers forcing the easy way back so we can see who else signs up.

Nice day out on the trail with great weather.  Thunder storms visible in southlake but all sun at Ellis.  Hit PDQ for sandwiches as planned but bummed to discover that they have changed owners and no longer make their own bread (if you've ever had one you know the loss).  Hit blackwood canyon about 10:15 and proceeded up the hill.  Took a few detours on the back side of the peak around Barker Meadow before a brief stop at Bear Lake and then up to the top of Ellis Peak.  Trees were down so we were forced to cross the valley on one of the linking trails.  Made it to the top about 1pm for lunch.  Hung out for about a half hour at the Jeeps eating and then hiked the short trail to the summit.  Shortly after getting to the top, Dave arrived and hiked up to join us.  After a short chat we headed down with Dave going back out barker meadow to blackwood canyon.  Jamie and I proceeded down the difficult rated Buck Lake Trail.  Jamie did amazing for being in a rig hardly wheeled.  While he did get some brush scratches and find where his bumper needs a bit more trimming, his rig performed flawlessly and he only needed a spot in one section (only because of a treelimb, not because of any rocks).  Around 4pm we were finishing airing up in the Rubicon staging area and back on the road.  I stayed in Tahoe an extra day and hit a snow storm on the way out.  Picture in the gallery says it all, quite chilly in an open rig and shorts.

Sorry we missed this run. The pictures posted show that anything can happen with weather in the Sierra's & to be prepared for it with equipment & clothing. Also, be prepared for downed trees. It seems no matter where you go, you will encounter this, either being in the way or not. This also tells you that someone needs to bring a chainsaw along. On the Signal Peak run, Jeff had a chainsaw & used it on the way up the hard side. This looks to be a great run, we look forward to joining in on the next run. Thanks Kris.

Thanks for leading the run Kris, was a great way to get my rig on it's first real trail, can't wait for the next one!  My windshield appreciates the spot on that tree branch, eyes were firmly on the trail surface grin
