Teddi and I have decided to postpone our main vacation plans for this year and started talking about other ideas. Doing Sierra Trek as a participant is an option. Is anyone else thinking of doing Sierra Trek?

I've never actually read to see how much it is and if you can paricipate without staying overnight...

We'd need to look into. Will they have an "all the way through" one day run?
The black jeep should be ready by then...

I might consider doing the Sierra Trek. I work on Sunday / Monday, so Friday / Saturday run could be cool. I'm with you Brad, I would like to go all the way through. After looking at the Cal 4 wheel site I found some answers.
quotes:
-Thursday and Friday SWB trips will run the FULL Fordyce Creek Trail.

Sierra Trek 2010 - Friday Short Wheelbase

This run will traverse the Fordyce Trail. Includes Friday trail breakfast and dinner, Saturday trail breakfast and dinner, Sunday breakfast, and camping for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Visit http://www.cal4wheel.com for details.

Details

SKU SKU3102

Price: $170.00

If you are going up and plan on staying the night and attending the events at Meadow Lake then the $180.00 would be worth it. If you just want to do a day trip, why would you pay for that. I run it for free 15 to 20 times a year. I would be more than happy to take anyone who wants to go all the way through for free and at your own pace.

I agree with Rob. Just to run the trail and not stay at the main camp sounds like a painful experience. A lot of slow driving and waiting. Part of the charm of the event is running the trail and then hanging at Meadow.

Edit: The Saturday "River Run" will be fun. You will even get a pin! mr-green

If it makes you feel better, I'll take you all the way through in one day, and I'll feed you a crappy lunch. All for half the price of Sierra Trek mr-green

I used to wheel a lot. . .

Sounds ilke we should plan a fordyce run! I've never gone all the way through. I've just gone in at Eagle Lakes side and went up from there a ways.
How long does it take to get all the way through?

It could be a month or longer before the water flows drop enough to get across the rivers. Flows are at 300 and that level is pretty dangerous to attempt when you factor in the additional snow run off.
