Don't stress about fuel if you have a fuel injected rig.  It is only 37 miles from the Chevron in Arnold to the trail head, 6 miles of trail, and then 20 miles to kirkwood or 26 miles to meyers if you are low on fuel.  I have always just gone back MET and fueled up in Placerville which is 75miles from the north end of the trail and mostly downhill.  The first time i ran strawberry/deer valley/slick rock back to back I brought extra fuel and still had a little over 1/4 a tank when we rolled into Arnold.  Might bring extra fuel if adding long canyon to the run.

Thanks you all for the fuel advice. I will be coming from Cameron Park through Arnold. Looks like the answer is Bear Valley, as there shouldn't be only a top off anyway.

Look forward to being on the trail again, thanks again...

We have always fueled in Angles Camp and topped of in Arnold. I would think Arnold is less expensive than Bear Valley and would give you more than enough fuel. Personally I would like to see the Saturday group caravan to the trailhead (strength and comfort in number!). According to Google maps it is quicker to take Hwy 50 to 89 to 4 from Cameron Park. Why not meet up at the Shell station in Pollock Pines and drive up via the Hwy 50 route as a group?

Thanks Jeff. I agree to meet in Pollock Pines Shell for those going that way. I'll keep an eye out on the forum to see it this gains traction.

Jeff, have you decided to camp out the night before or are you driving up in the morning?

I'm planning to head up in the afternoon on Friday and camp at Hermit Valley Campground, which is at the trailhead. I'm still waiting to get the date of a memorial service so that is the only thing that could alter my plans at this point.

John,

I live in the western part of Cameron Park, which is the most direct (& flattest) route to Hwy 4. My route is Latrobe Rd to 16 to 49 to 4, which is only 5 miles difference than going 50, 89 & 4. I will allow 3 hours for the trip to the Hermit Valley campground. I'll leave with a full tank & top off in Arnold. Plan on leaving around 6:00A. I don't know of a convenient place to meet, but you're welcome to meet me at my home just up the hill from EDH's.

For the day trippers, in the past for Slick Rock and Deer Valley we met up at the McDonald's in Angel's Camp.  33 N Main St, Angels Camp, CA 95222 (49 to 4)

I met up with Dale, Roy, and Sean on the last run there.  Good place to gas up as it's 20 to 30 cents cheaper than Arnold.  We topped off again at Arnold but for only a couple of gallons.

There is a no name gas station a mile or so before McDonalds on the right at around $4 a gallon or $4.23 at the Shell across the street.  Arnold doesn't post prices.

It's about an hour 20 from Folsom Lake to Angels Camp then another hour 20 to Hermit Valley Campground,  so Guy is right to give yourself 3 hours easy.

I'm out of town so I can't make the trip.  Have fun!

Very possible that me and Kieth (prospect member) will make this run but would meet you all in the morning. That would be 2 more rigs.

McDonalds was used 1 time (for me) to stage for a run, which worked out well. I’m going to the campground, unless I hear differently.

We have got a big group together, how exciting! Im working on my transmission drop and slave cylinder conversion now. Seems to coming along well. Just waiting for parts. Feeling optimistic it will come together in time for the run. So amber and i have made a change for the lunch menu. We have decided it will be better to serve sandwiches. It will be subway style build your own sandwich with chips drinks and maybe some cookies or something.

Going: kris and lily, jeffR, infotracker aka jim, jamie, jigglyjr and his dad, brian, dale clement, red rock crawler ( sean and john), guy and lynda, johnDF, Rufus.

Maybe: scottV, richfroh, hyper green tonka(2 rigs).

camping Friday night: JeffR, Jamie, Red rock crawler.

let me know if that looks good. I will update my progress on my jeep as it comes together.

I'm still a "maybe"... depending on how the sale of the Jeep goes.

I already have its replacement ordered, so I hope it sells rather quickly.

So John, if it doesn't sell by the time of the run, you may go [with it]? What are you replacing it with?

That's my thought.

I ordered a Sing Gray Rubicon 2 door.

I really miss my 2 door, I think they are tons more fun.
