It's time for a real SNOW run!!!
I'm hosting an extreme snow run to Pierce ohv camp ground. It's basically the beginning of Fordyce but it's the part without the big boulders. We will start at Eagle Lakes and Hwy 80. The road is not maintained so the wheeling/trail breaking will start there and we will cruise down to the Indian springs staging area where there are bathrooms and the beginning of Signal Peak Trail. We will then continue from there to Pierce with hopes of making it to the creek for a break/snack. Depending on time and snow levels we can then head towards Driveline Hill and then up to Eagle Lakes. All depending on time and group decision.
This trip is tentatively set for January 27th. We will meet at Sweat Peas in Auburn for breakfast around 8am and then venture to the trail head from there.
Here at the Gold Hills Posse 4x4 Club we don't want to turn anyone away from a trip and usually all trips are open to any and everyone, but I am going to set some guidelines for this trip. If you really want to be apart of the trip then bring a good attitude and Jeff and I will drag you through.
Guidelines:
Front and rear recovery points
Minimum 35s
1 locker
Winch
Shovel
Gloves and snow boots
Again, guidelines. If you want to come, then come and have a good time with us.
Um...what?

I hate to be the guy that rains on the nursing home parade, but I think the Pierce OHV area is part of the TNF seasonal closure.
Here's the map that shows the alternative that came out of the EIR process: http://a123.g.akamai.net/7/123/11558/ab ... 031363.pdf
You can run to the first river crossing on Fordyce if there's 15+" of snow on the ground or I can point you toward a few other areas that I've wanted to check out. None are that close to 80 and I've never looked into their "green sticker friendliness".
Sorry. 🙁

I'm not much of a map reader. I'm not a 100% sure what this map is telling me. What I do know is that according this site: http://www.fs.usda.gov/wps/portal/fsint ... +OHV+Trail Its open. 😀
Worst case is we will try to just wheel to Driveline Hill, or to Eagle Lakes. If nobody shows interest, I will just cancel the run. I know we just had our snow patrol and another one Feb. 2nd. Jeff and I were just talking about it, so I thought i would through it out. 🙄
Um...what?

I dug a ways into their plan and the two don't agree but I like your answer!
