Brain and Scott are hams who will be there so direct your questions to them but the main group will probably be on one of the MURS channels. Else yes, we will have a group heading up and coming in the south end. Leaving the Pollock Pines Shell about 9am so part of the group should be at Schnider Cow Camp Rd past the Caltrans Maintenance Station about 10-10:15AM to air down. Basically head out from deer valley the normal way or the Lost Lakes way and turn left onto 88. At Caples lake, turn into the Caltrans Maintenance Station and continue to the trailhead. Trailhead has the info board we put up a couple years ago and a small parking lot for hikers.

Perfect. That will work then. I will plan on meeting peeps at the south trail head at 10AM! I will coordinate ham repeaters with Brian and Scott 🙂 That way we can talk smack about everyone from opposite ends of the trail and no one will know 😛

For the pot luck, I plan on bringing out fixin's for sandwiches since I won't have time to get to my butcher to get sausage. I'll bring a bunch of different meats, some condiments, and different types of bread.
If I get a chance to get sausage, I will being those as well. But sandwich fixin's for sure.
I'll bring a tub of potato salad.
Anyone bringing plates & utensils?

I'll be there as long as my rig isn't in the shop. I'm also a certified lopper operator, so I got that going for me, which is nice.
Yes, I'm self-quoting. Well, I wasn't able to get my "frame" stiffeners welded on, so I'm going to be a scratch for this run. I know it's an easy trail, but I don't want to make the cracks any worse. Have fun, y'all.

Made it home safe from the 88 side. What a view. I am processing photos now and will post in the gallery and also on the FB page. It was great to see everyone. Wish I was more of help kids had my hands full. Lol.
It's just nice to see the next generation exposed to our hobby. It will have a lasting impression on them.

Thanks to everyone who made it out on this run. We accomplished a ton of work (special thanks to Dale the whip cracker), met and wheeled with new friends (the land rover guys and the only Toyota on the run), and had some amazing sausage and sandwiches from our newest member Scott.
The trail was the easiest it has probably been since the 1960s when it was actively logged. With the work we put in it is barely a "medium" level trail but should be way better than the highway is was this morning.
V-rock will need its own work day with multiple winches to restore it. Also we will have to wait a couple of winters for the large rocks to find their homes. Come spring we can repeat a similar work day and get much better idea of the final results of the repair work.
