Hello,
My family found a fun little swim hole. I gave about 12.22 seconds notice before we went last time. Now I'm thinking that if I give more notice and plan a little better, we may have a better turn out.
Here's what I'm thinking.
Bring your kids, dogs and whatever else
Bring some food for lunch
Bring sunscreen and swimsuit
If anyone likes card games, we could setup a game also.
Then we all meet up and swim, have fun and hang out.
Oh, there is a tiny tiny trail that you can drive on also.
Anyone interested?
I created a Poll to see which dates would work best (yeah, I'm a computer nerd).

I'm looking for a car camp location for the family/group that would be considered safe for kids. We usually go to campgrounds but reservations are always an issue.
No, you can't camp there. There is a sign that says it closes at 10 pm (if I remember the time correctly).
What are you looking for in a camp site?
How big of a group are you talking?

Two vehicles, 6 people, something the wives would approve of.

Questions:
1. How far do you want to drive?
2. Do you want one big camp site or 2 adjoining campsites?
3. What do you want to do?
- 4x4
- Gold Pan
- Swim
- GeoCache
- Hike
- Shooting
- Other
4. Showers?
I can tell you where we have gone, based on what you are looking for.

Wow, we need to talk.
1) We need to find a location for the November Turkey Shoot, if you know of a location that we can shoot not to far from here. I've heard that there is a location off of Ice House Road but don't know the exact location.
2) Camping... really looking for a rustic location that doesn't need 4wd, not a campground that needs reservations. One thought was where we did our Snow Patrol on the Mormon Trail in resent years. Not growing up here, I don't know the area or what the rangers allow. Guess I should call the ranger 😀

1) We went shooting at PiPi Campground. Well, technically not at the campground.
Here is a link to the campground:

The shooting area is out of the campground and up the street about 1/2 mile. When you are ready, I can get you better directions to the shooting area if you need it.
2) Rustic that doesn't need 4wd, that's all I get?
Camp Richardson was a lot of fun. It's at South Lake Tahoe. We saw a few black bears.
What do you mean Rustic?

Between Kyburz on Hwy 50 and MET runs Silverfork road. There are 2 campgrounds on there called China Flat and Silverfork. It looks like first come first served. I did not see them listed on Recreation.gov. Silver Lake west does not require reservations. Silver Lake east is half and half. Lake Kirkwwod also appears to not need reservations. All those are tent camping sites or if you have a trailer smaller than 22 feet. You won't be getting a 40' toy hauler through them. 😛
