Let's hope you can make it. It is one of the more challenging runs. And my favorite.
One of the more challenging run? It's got to be about the most challenging you can do around here!

OfflineYep, at the pace we run, every weak link you have will break or wear out. I had to replace several joints and a leaking shock after the last trip!

OfflineThe date is set at July 11 and Rob,John and Myself completed this run two years ago in about 12 hours total from airing down to all of us back home.
We were held up 2 hours on true big sleuce from a broken rig blocking the trail and were held up more than an hour by a very slow group coming down old sleuce that we didn't want to by-pass.

I wonder if my back could take that much punishment in that short a time...after 3 surgeries :p
I only have 3wks during July to play with in the summers so I try to cram as much wheeling in as I can.

I haven't done either trail all the way through. My plan was to mark those off the list this summer. I'm up to try it, I just got to get the 11th off of work. I'm a maybe at this point.

OfflineFor those wondering...
This is a more 'advanced' run. We are running the two hardest trails in the area back-to-back. Typically it takes people a whole day to run one of these trails at their typical pace. We will be running these trails at an exelerated pace with minimal stopping. To do this, you must know these trails very well and not rely on spotting and rock stacking to get you through. Your rig must also be very well built and fairly large to take the abuse and keep up with the pace.
There will be other runs on these trails more suited for a slower pace and enjoyment of the trip.
I used to wheel a lot. . .

When you folks do this and hit the river crossing(s) (b/c I've only seen in videos) do you replace your diff oil b/c of water intake? What kinds of "water" protection basics are done, if any?
I was just curious as I have no idea. No urgency in answering this here if it clutters up the attendance list.

When I was wheeling a fair amount I would go through all my fluids/bearings/etc. every winter. That was mainly driven by my front end which would chew the little trunion bearings if I didn't keep on top of them. Ask some of the old timers how much fun I was to be around when I lost the trunion bearings in my cruiser. I promised myself I wouldn't let it happen again.

OfflineSeldom is the water deep enough to worry about water proofing anything. Just check the breather tubes on the front and rear diffs. Make sure they are secure and tight and the tubes run to a high location about 24 inches or more above the diff. Crossing rivers a couple times a year won't do anything. If you run Fordyce 20 plus times a year like me, then the water will start damaging things. I have to tear down my front end a couple times a season to lube the bearings and let everything dry out.
