I haven't done either trail all the way through. My plan was to mark those off the list this summer. I'm up to try it, I just got to get the 11th off of work. I'm a maybe at this point.

I have the day off as well!
You can make this run. All you need to do is keep up with the rig in front of you and follow their lines. We switched off leading last time and it worked out really well - especially when making fun of a leader and then they proceeded to teach you a "lesson". I believe I was the only one who required a winch recovery last time.

Not much time to do anything except try to keep up with the guy in front of you. We normally just wear diapers on this run so we don't have to stop for anything

Diapers.. I don't know if I want to do this trail run that bad... 🙂

Huck,
You'll be fine...when in doubt just hammer that skinny petal of yours. One recommendation i do have for you is to buy a spair power steering pump. they tend to go out pretty quickly with 40" tires aired down. also did you ever get the front steering on your jeep upgraded. looked a little small when we last wheeled.

I have been running my same steering pump for 5 years, 3 1/2 years has been on 40 inch tires. I have only been using a ram for 1 year. My steering pump is still as strong today as it was when I bought it. If you are burning yours up, there might be a problem somewhere else in your steering.

Ok, the way it stands now for this run:
John is a maybe based on Jury duty which he wont' know for sure until 2 days before the run.
Rob is out.
That leaves me as the only "sure thing". I have already taken the time off and also have a passenger lined up who also took time off work. so, we're going.
Is anyone else considering this run? I'd be willing to run the this in either direction if some else has a preference since I've already been the direction we're going.
I do suggest you have at least two lockers, 35's and a winch for this run to be prepared.
Post back here and let me know. I figure we got a couple of you seasoned on Saturday!

Brad, I'd either like to catch a ride with you (yes, a 3rd wheel) or with someone else who has an open seat. Will bring camera, enthusiasm and will be looking to learn.

I can bring 3, but the cost of that ticket is "official photographer" status! +1, check!

What about some temp mud flaps made from square tube and pull out pins to hold them in while on the highway? Your "special" Id should aleviate any other hiccups.

We had a JKU on 35's running the trail with no problems yesterday but our pace was pretty mild. I think it comes down to the driver and their comfort level in driving without spotting and picking lines. 37's would surely make things easier. This is my first attempt at Fordyce on a fast pace with my LWB jeep. I'm not sure how well I'll do.

I think I'll wait for a less advanced run. I don't want to be the one to slow everyone down.

Would you be interested in a day run across the Rubicon? I'd do a weekday run with you, if you'd like! if you can get a day off and want to go, I'll take the day off too! We can make it in a pretty easy day normally. This would be a good guage for you if you'd like to try a future Fordycon effort.
