Checked the flows. They dipped below 100cfs for about a week (crossable) but back up to around 500cfs now (not crossable).http://www.dreamflows.com/grap.....on.063.php
We can eat lunch by the river.
I have no problem with eating lunch by the river!

Quick recap:
We had myself and Jeff, Darrell & Jill, and Jason. We headed out from the staging area around 9am-ish and kept a moderate pace. Everyone made it up driveline hill without issue. We continued on and were at the river crossing around 10:45am. After eating lunch and hanging out for a while, a yellow Jeep came down the trail. Two nice guys we chatted with for a bit and they run Fordyce several times a year. They continued on through the deeper line across the river and flooded out. They were able to winch the Jeep out and get it started again. At that point we decided not to attempt any crossings and started back. We made it back to the Eagles Lakes turn off and decided to explore down that trail. Found a nice campsite at one of the lakes and hung out for a bit. We were all back to the staging area around 2:30pm-ish(?). Darrell & Jill, and Jason aired up and headed home.
Adventure 2: Jeff and I decided to head up the Signal Peak trail. The trail is a bit overgrown in places. We made it close to the top where we ran into a big hard packed snow drift. We turned around and were heading back down when we missed a turn and ended up around the other side of the peak as far as the trail would allow. Jeff was able to hike up to the lookout from that point while I hung back. After turning around we followed another trail down that ended up taking us to Cisco Grove. In hindsight we think the trail was more of a side-by-side trail but we squeezed through. Fortunately, the pin striping wasn't bad. We were back on 80 around 5pm.
Great day and great adventure!

Kevin you so funny, it was another great day. Thank you!
Ooooh that's not good
Oh ok I see now you are funny Kevin
I have a video of the river crossing that I will try to post to our site. This was a good example of what not to do. TJ's don't float... These guys even had "Fordyce" on the hood of the Jeep. They told us that this was no problem to cross. They were able to winch it out to the other side. We offered to pull them back to our side. We stayed around until they got it started and went on our way. These guys had to either cross back to this first river crossing or push on and take on 2 more... Hmmmm I wonder if they are still up there...

Kevin, thank you so much for letting me ride shotgun with you today! Your driving and Jeep are fantastic! You made Drive Line Hill look like a walk in the park! Darrell and Jill your Jeep is a much nicer yellow than those other guys! In fact you would have made it across the river if you decided to give it a go. Jason thank you for letting me jump in with you for a short bit. I think Kevin was tired of my screaming and crying that I was going to die so he must have enjoyed the break
Kevin, as for Adventure 2... When we went around the backside of Signal Peak we were on deer trails so narrow that we had to drive on two wheels I'm not sure how we made it through some of those areas. We had more of the forest coming into the jeep than was outside of the jeep. To say it was a "bit overgrown" was an understatement..
I posted some of the pictures in the Photo Gallery if you would like to have a look.
Thanks again everybody for a wonderful day!

Wheelers like the two guys in the yellow Jeep drive me crazy. They are out there alone, so called "experienced", and taking the deep line at high flow. They are a statistic waiting to happen. We've rescued more than a few idiots from Fordyce that were so-called "experienced" before.
Anyways, I'm glad you guys had a good time. I've been on Fordyce about 100 times and it's still my favorite local trail. Running to the river crossing is a fun trip, has some good little obstacles, and has you home in plenty of time to cook an early dinner. Can't wait until I'm able to join you guys.
I used to wheel a lot. . .

If you would like to watch the video of the River Crossing Fail please go to You Tube and type in TJ Fordyce River
I did not want to post it on our Web Site as they are not Posse Members and were not using good judgement Jeeping alone and crossing the river at such a high flow.

Jeff and I had just checked the flow on his phone (he actually had a signal) and it was at 320cfs. I mentioned that to them and mentioned the hole on the deep line. They said they've crossed in those conditions many times and then continued at a pretty quick speed into the water. After they stalled out he yelled, "Don't listen to me!".
The left line would have been fine.
