I know it's short notice again, but after getting back on the trail, the bug bit me and I'm itching to go out there again.
If flows remain low, we will be doing a FULL Fordyce day run.
Once at Committee Crossing we can assess and either continue the full run, or cross and come out Committee. Pace will be moderate (not Fordicon pace ).
Saturday, July 8th:
Rating: Difficult
Meet at Nyack Shell station @ 8:00am and head out by 8:30am.
Vehicles must meet the club minimum requirements, plus the following additional requirements:
- Previous experience on any Fordyce (intro run experience okay), Rubicon, Barrett, or similar difficulty run
- No rear Dana 35
- No metal valve stems
- Must have rear locker
- Minimum 35" tires
A vehicle inspection will take place at Nyack.
Post up if you are interested.

It's a GO! Thanks Jeff! With flows remaining below 100cfs for the past couple of days, we should be able to cross even with the snow melt flowing in. I'll be watching.
I will have one open seat available. I will be carrying my spare for this one so no rear seat availability.
I have been watching the flows too. I can't believe they are so low but we will take it! I might also have a front seat open in case someone wants to join me. If the flows increase to the point where we can't cross then we can always give signal peak a try instead.

Just be careful. The flows are regulated and they increase with energy demands (ask B-Rad).You could get into the trail and have the flows increase, so you better make sure the top is passable.
Be safe out there...
I was concerned about getting stuck between the river crossings too. When I looked at this three year flow chart it doesn't show any high flows in July through September. However, given the drought this pattern could certainly change this year.

The second river crossing is no problem, it's the committee crossing that gets ugly.
One year we crossed the first because it was low. We had plans to cross the Committee and exit at Cisco Grove. By the time we got the the Committee crossing the water had risen to dangerous levels. We had no choice but to go out over the top. Sadly, the top was still snowed in and we had to break trail the whole way out. We didn't hit pavement until 3:30 in the morning and had to rescue two guys in an XJ in the process. They would have died out there if it wasn't for us picking them up. Not sure if any group has went out over the top yet this year. If they have then it shouldn't be a problem.
I used to wheel a lot. . .

Last weekend at committee.
That was the group we saw go through the first river crossing. That water is COLD and FAST. I would have had my life vest on for that one.
That's the same spot we crossed last year, although flows were below 100cfs at the time. Also, same spot I crossed in my YJ when the water came over my hood (didn't know what the flow was).
My Jeep is packed an ready. Got my spare tire, tent, sleeping bag, extra clothes and blankets, and life vest all loaded up just in case. And my standard tools, of course. Going to pick up plenty of food and drinks tomorrow.

Fun long day! Got home just before 11pm and then showered immediately. The mud there was stinky.
The quick... Left the staging area at 8:45am. Made it to first river crossing around 9:50am. Winch Hill 1 around 11:30am where there was a traffic jam of 5 vehicles. Hung out for 15-20 minutes and then decided to take the bypass. Stopped for lunch at 12:30pm at the waterfall for about 1 hour. Made it to a big mud hole where I got stuck on a stump. The trail was blocked by fallen trees at that location. Several groups helped winch the trees out of the way and then winch me back off the stump taking about 1 hour total. Made it up the center line at Winch Hill 3 and then we watched a buggy for about 30 minutes trying to make it up the crazy line on the right. By far the hardest line of all the winch hills. Right before Winch Hill 5 Brian's front driveline separated damaging the splines. He removed it and I towed him the rest of the way making it past Winch Hill 5 just before 7pm. We then ran into some snow on the way out making it a little slow going. We were up on the hill overlooking Meadow Lake around 8pm. We continued to pavement hitting more snow along the way, aired up, and then headed home.
