Noobicon Run.

Heading into the Rubicon through Wentworth Springs and out Loon Lake.  This is a basic run for fun. Depending on time, we could turn around and go back the other way.

Meeting at Wentworth Springs Trail head at 9am, Saturday, May 23rd. Cords are 39.015660, -120.387032. Will also be at Wortons Market in Georgetown (6274 Main St, Georgetown, CA 95634) if anyone wants to meet and follow me to Springs. Planning to leave Wortons at 8am.

Minimum Vehicle Requirements (for each Official Member’s vehicle, or vehicle attending a club run):

  • Vehicles with known mechanical or safety problems are discouraged from attending runs.
  • Have current vehicle registration and be street legal or current “Green Sticker” for strictly off-road vehicles.
  • Have front and rear recovery points.
  • Have a jack capable of lifting the vehicle.
  • Have a full size spare tire (within two sizes). No “temporary” or “donut” spares allowed .
  • Tires 37″ or larger and carrying no spare may get an exemption from a Club Officer or run Trail Boss if carrying an approved tire plug kit. If your bolt pattern is not common it is highly recommended that a wheel adapter to a common bolt pattern be carried.
  • Have properly functioning seat belts or restraints for all occupants of the vehicle.
  • Have a fire extinguisher on board.
  • Have an approved recovery strap.

Will meet up with Mark (Sloth JK) and his friend who are camping near the trail head. Keith will also be joining us. Both Mark and Keith are prospects. If we could get one other member to join us this could count towards their membership.

Keith said he is bringing some pulled pork for sandwiches. Not a member BBQ but he wanted to cook so I couldn't say no.

It's short notice but if you can, come join us for some fun.

Will be on HAM 146.420.

Sounds fun. I've never come in Wentworth Springs before. Have always gone in Loon Lake. Would like to try a reverse some day - in from Tahoe and out Loon Lake. Anyways, what's your plan/ schedule?

Going in the Wentworth side is super fun , some aggressive wheeling. I did a full run two summers ago from Tahoe to loon. definitely worth doing but not on a weekend.

I imagine it will be busy but I'm not gonna be in a hurry. My guess is most trails will be for some time. Cabin fever out there.

Well yesterday was a blast. Got started on the trail entrance from Wentworth Springs a little later than expected. This was mainly because I took a wrong turn and ended up down a super rocky road for 2 miles.

Keith and I met up with Mark and Steve and headed in. This side of the trail was really fun. On you tube some were calling it the Noobicon. There were some great camping spots before and at the beginning of the trail. Even in the trail. Good obstacles that were challenging but not too hard for beginners wanting a challenge and experience.

Had lunch on the granite slab about a half mile before the trail connects to the Rubicon trail coming in from Loon Lake. Keith made pulled pork sliders for everyone. Y'all missed out.

We went to where the trail connected and then headed back towards the Loon Lake entrance. this was a reminder of my last trip to the Rubicon and just how challenging that trail can be. It was a lot of fun and Keith did great for his first real trail.

We connected with Brian and Lonie on the trail as they were coming into the Rubicon. so the question here is technically there were two members present during the run so does that count as an official run for Keith, Mark, and Steve towards membership?

We started our trip around 10:00 am. and got out the Loon Lake side around 3:30 pm. All in all it was a wonderful day, perfect weather, and very little people on the trail considering a holiday following quarantine. I expected a whole lot more rigs on the trail.

Can't wait for hell hole next week.

Not that I took. I know Mark and Keiths wife Katina took some.
