There's a GPS mapping project for the Greenhorn area planned tomorrow (the 17). I'm planning to go since it's close and easy. It's last minute, but if anyone is interested in tagging along, feel free. Let me know and I can get you some decent directions.

Unfortunately, most of the area is officially closed so our Red Dog run is in real trouble.

I'm helping Rob tomorrow. I think Justin is too.

We can go other places besides Red Dog this year if we have to. There's not much wheeling there anyways.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

If we want to stick with the shooting aspect of the Red Dog run, we could just meet at a range somewhere. Or we could give up the shooting and just go wheeling somewhere. I like both shooting and wheeling, so I'd be ok either way.

Oh, and thanks for the invite for the gps mapping run, but Teddi's got some things she wants me to do tomorrow. 🙄

Let us know how it went, I'd be interested in doing something like that sometime in the future.

It went well. It was the only group I've ever wheeled with that stands around and BSes more than we do. 😀 I learned about a few new spots to go check out and there's plenty more out there than we've ever gone and checked out. There's some cool old mining equipment back there and a little tunnel you can walk through. We didn't make it to the cemetary, but I'm going to try and track down the location.

The turn out was good. A couple WeBilt guys and a GV four wheeler and a couple random folks. Seven rigs in all.

Our Red Dog run should be safe. We ate lunch where we shot last time I went and those in the know said that was actually TNF so shooting was ok. The Nevada County Sheriff is now patrolling the area on quads during the weekends so maybe there'll be a few less yahoos. Remember the group shooting across the canyon?! 😯

The hill that bypasses the narrow area was a solid sheet of ice. One guy in a CJ5 made it up and had to winch everyone else except for a suzuki that caught up. I was close, but no cigar. I hate the feeling when all four wheels are spinning forward and the truck is sliding backward.

We took some pics, I'll get them up eventually.

The cemetary was cool. We saw it a couple of years back.

Any good wheeling spots?

Nothing too exciting. There's a creek crossing on the other side that got a bit deep and was a bit rocky, but it's mostly fire roads and what not. We did manage to get up toward some of the ditches to one of the powerhouses.
