I tried to do the write up in the past trip section but it won't let me log in. So, I'm not sure if I need granted access from the "Great" webmaster or what. Just another binary thing I'm having trouble with. So here is the right up and someone can who is more special then me can move it over there.
"To Hell Hole and Back"
On Saturday, 5/5/12, several club members and friends meet at Georgetown at 8am to run the semi famous trail known as Hell Hole. The trail is an in and out type trail and makes its way down a series of switch backs down to Hell Hole Reservoir. The trail has many spectacular views if your willing to make the long back road journey to the trail head.
Jeff decided to ride with me this year as his rig was down. He offered buy me breakfast if we arrived early in Georgetown. Who can turn down free breakfast? So Jeff and I arrived at the gas station in Georgetown to fuel up before breakfast at 630am. We were surprised to see Rick-Rock and his TJ and his buddy Scott who had a JK on 35s hanging out at the gas station. Jeff invited them over to the Corner Cafe with us to grab some breakfast and what for the others to arrive. The cafe was small but man they had a good hearty breakfast and a friendly hometown service. We ate until our stomachs couldn't handle any more and then we scurried across the street to the Georgetown general store where we were to meet the rest of the group.
About 10 rigs in all showed up for the trip. We had Josh in his Jk as the fearless leader, Rick and son in his TJ, Scott and son in his JK, Brian and son in his TJ, Johnathon and friend in his JK, John and wife in his JK, Huck and Liz in there Jk, Brad, son, friend and son in his JK, Ryazor and daughter in his TJ, and Jeff and I in my LJ.
We set out at 8am sharp to make it to the trail head by 9am. It's a long windy backroad trip to the trail head but with 10 rigs in toe, it was a fun drive. We arrived at the trail head and began to air down.
We set in on the adventure with pretty smooth sailing until the waterfall portion of the trail. This part of the trail tends to be challenging going down. It's even worse coming out. Everyone managed to negotiate their way through.
I have a bum leg so I could only really capture photos of those around me. We continued down the trail and stopped at the creek crossing with a really pretty waterfall. Most everyone stopped for lunch except Brad and Huck decided to continue to the lake. That spurred some of us to continue on. Josh, Rick, Scott, John, Brian and I took our jeeps and forged on while Johnathon and Rayzor stayed behind. Rayzor put new 33's on his TJ which posed a problem. His tires were rubbing on the inside of his rear axle. So he opted to wait for the group to return.
Past the creek crossing, the trail becomes a little more challenging then the previous portions of the trail. It offered a great opportunity for some of the unexperienced wheels to show case their skills. I was impressed by all.
There are some beautiful spots along the trail to take pictures.
The trail becomes very steep and drops down to the lake bed. Luckily the water was low enough for us to have a chance to play around in the rocks and a little water crossing.
I think everyone is ready for Fordyce water crossings
Um...what?

After some playing around we turned around and headed back up the trail. We made it back to the waterfall and creek crossing with little effort. We were surprised to see that Rayzor and Johnathon had gone out with Brad and Huck. The rest of us made our way to the waterfall section which gave everyone a decent challenge. Brian managed to lose a bed and slice his tire. Fortunately for him he had a spare and with a group effort changed the tire out rather quickly. I wasnt able to capture many of the moments with my camera due to my inability to be mobile with my leg Brace.
We made it out to the trail head and began to air up when we realized we had some more issues. Scott had steel valve stems and one of his rear valve stems got scratched up and he was unable to air it up. So the team jumped on it and swapped on his spare.
Apparently while using a hi-lift jack, Scott's bumper managed to pivot up into his body and scrapped some paint. His tire rack then had issues closing and had to be ratchet strapped closed.
Josh also had an excellent time breaking in his new rear axle. When I say breaking in his rear axle, I really men break his rear axle. Apparently Josh needs more then a 60 for his massive 35's. Josh rearranged his rear axle skid plate.
All in all it was a great trip and everyone had a blast. New friend's were made and better friendships reinforced. It was amazing to see everyone jump in and help each other out. It seemed anytime someone had a break down Rick was right there getting dirty and solving the problem. Anytime some needed a spot Jeff was there waving his hands at you. It was a great reminder of why I am a part of this club. I just hope that when my leg is better I can be more help on the trail.
Um...what?

A wise Posse member once said "you got to pay to play" This was my contribution for a day of fun. Money well spent!
