Hello,
This is Jeff Sharkey. Our son went up Grouse Ridge Road in his Tacoma yesterday and got stuck on Grouse Ridge Road near the Glacier Lake hiking trail. Paula and I are in Southern California visiting our daughter. We won’t be home until Tuesday Night. I can go up on Wednesday once we are home. He is going up with several buddies today and parking below where the snow is and hiking up to dig the truck out. Not sure if they will be successful? If there are any members that would like to head up that way with a well equipped rig to lend a hand or join an organized trip on Wednesday if they don’t get the truck out today please let me know. Thanks!

I just saw this post 10 hours after it was posted. Everyone should be aware of the Facebook page NorCal 4X4 Rescue. I encourage you to join the group. The group's primary mission is to provided assistance and rescues for those in need. While the majority of the posts are just 4X4 chit chat, if someone is in need of rescue or recovery this group is awesome. Members are everywhere in NorCal so if you need assistance, or would like to assist someone in need, this is a go to resource. This group is amazing when a 4X4 needs help and members are very quick to respond because you get the closest resources, at no charge. And it is educational with a lot of what to do and what not to do information.

All,We just heard form our son and he was able to get his truck out of the snow and all is good! I guess you would hope that your kids would learn from you but sometimes there are life lessons that they just need to experience on their own.
Hope everybody is doing well! Take care!
BearDog,
Thank you so much for the offer to help! We are glad that the boys were able to dig themselves out and recover the truck!

Jeff,
This is great information! Sadly even I myself did not know of the NorCal 4x4 Rescue page. Thank you so much for getting this out to the club as I am sure there may be others that were not aware! Or maybe it is just that I am a bit slower than the rest of the folks...Take care and stay safe!

Anyway way other than Facebook to contact or join?
Nope, and I don't really see a better format for the quick responses. If you are stuck and need to post just text me your GPS coordinates and I will post on the group. Most simple recoveries that are in the area will have a few people respond within an hour.

Sorry to hear about the broken Axle... I can't get up there to help right now. However, I have my stock factory axles for my 2016 JK unlimited. I doubt they would fit but in the unlikely event that they would somebody can pick them up if Robert could use one of them.
Thanks sharkbyte

Speaking of needing help , Robert Glanville's TJ has a broken Dana 35 rear axle shaft and is stuck on the Rubicon.

What's the location? Granite slaps, or the granite Bowl?

Sorry. I saw you are returning Wednesday to do the repair.
No problem. Are you able to help me tomorrow? Please?
I'm so sorry. I have 10 meetings tomorrow so my day is booked. Do you have the C-clip for the axle, and is the bearing already on the spare shaft? Did you get the inner shaft (broken part) out already? Make sure you bring the necessary tools. also, bring a couple very heavy duty ratchet straps just in case (and a hand saw/small chainsaw). It is possible to limp the YJ off the trail with that breakage. Its very close to loon lake. Always carry a plan B with you. You never know. Please keep us posted.
