So, Jeff and I headed up to Mormon Immigrant Trail at 11pm today. We stopped in at the Shell Station in Pollock Pines to see if anyone would meet up with us but no one showed so we headed to MET.
There wasn't much snow at the lake off Sly Park. We ended up driving about 14 miles up MET before hitting any real snow. But once we found it, we were in it!! It pretty much snowed the entire time. We hung out for a bit, played with my dog who came along for the fun, Jeff drove up to the gate to check it out. There was a decent amount of snow by the gate.
The snow was nice and sticky great for making snowballs. We decided to turn around and head down the hill. We stopped at the Kiosk to air up. No snow there at the start but then it started to hail really bad so we beat feet and headed down to Sly Park. We soon were stopped in traffic as a car decided to go off the road and hit a power line which was down across the road. We had to wait for SMUD to show up before the Ranger would let us through.
All in all a good day and lots of people up MET. Hopefully it won't be that way all winter.
We did run into Kyle and talked with him for about 15 minutes. He said he really likes the Kiosk work the club did on Strawberry and he can't wait to under go the work to re open the trail next summer.
Um...what?
