This is the first of two maintenance runs the club has signed up for in 2010.
We will be providing a vehicle count for EDC Search and Rescue. This is mainly a sitting around and chatting work party, plus the chance to do some side runs during the day. The count lasts from about 10AM to 4PM.
We can plan to meet at the Sly Park 76/Subway at 830, and leave by 9AM.
Pop up canopies and heaters/fire pits are appreciated - especially if we are facing bad weather.
This run occurs regardless of weather conditions.
If you arrive later, you can meet us on Iron Mtn Road, as we will be setting up a check point for vehicle counts and info hand outs.
Who is in for Road Patrol #1?

I was up there a couple weeks ago, I had to drive 5 or 6 miles to get to snow.
I'm also planning on going up this Saturday to goof around also. Then I'm headed to Crystal Basin Cellars (Winery in Camino) in the early afternoon. They're hosting a cigar day and will be hand rolling cigars there if anyone wants to join me.
I'll post in this forum what the snow is like when I get back Sat. night.

didn't we have a fire right on the snow? did we use a pit ? i have a big stainless steel strainer that was used by berkeley farms. my brother bought there facility and it was left behind. it came with a hoist, like an engine hoist to lift it out of a big pot. i thought it would make a great fire pit. It has a thousand little holes in it that lets a lot of air in and also radiate the heat out really nice. the problem is its size and weight. its well over 200 lbs. i was thinking of putting wheels and a trailer tongue on it. should i bring it ?

I used to bring mine but it died this year when a tree fell on it (along with my house). So we ARE in need of a fite pit!

Did a pre-run today. The Sacramento Jeepers were there performing their road patrol about 6 miles up on hard parvement. I had to drive 13 miles up Iron Mountain Road to find enough snow to cover the road. It was really quiet up there.
I did see one Honda Accord chaining up at the 13 mile mark. It was a family with a 8(ish) year old little girl in sandals. I stopped and asked what they were up to, the mom said they were going through to Kirkwood. When I told her I wouldn't suggest trying to make it up and over, she replied pretty aggressively "but this is the way my GPS told me to go!" I stopped back at the Sac Jeepers on my way out. They were aware of her and were already planning on making a run just before sundown to make sure they weren't stuck.
Hopefully it snows more this week!!!

Well I suppose he would rather have people see it that way than people saying "there goes a big flamer towing a pot" 🙂

Looks like there's definitely some weather on the way, but weather.com is still calling for rain pretty high. Also looks like they're calling for rain on Saturday. 🙄

Now I have to decide between the Road Patrol and Ryan's basketball game. This is his first year in the competetive league. He's the starting Center, of course it doesn't hurt that he's the tallest kid on the court, even though he's a year younger than most of the other kids 😈
I used to wheel a lot. . .
