U-Joint?

I plan to make this one with my broken front diff.

Check out the Basic Requirements on the About Us section of the main page. Going wheeling in 2wd is one thing, going without a working front locker may be another. We all keep learning more about our rigs weak points the more wheel them. I believe we have all had to pass-up on events due to vehicle issues. Maybe you could post with a " what do you think " to get input from others to help decide what is ok or not.

Richard, are you seriously contemplating the trip with a 2WD vehicle?

I used to wheel a lot. . .

Not a 100% sure, but think it may have been snow and ice lodge in a wheel. Because when I test drove it down here, there wasn't an issue anymore. Did do some other maintenance to it do to looking around for the problem. wink

So I re-wired my rear locker to work on my front axle. It works great! Now, it won't dissengage - not so great. Any ideas?

I'd start with "un-re-wiring" it. Clever concept for the JK though, have others done that?

Cut the green wire. Or is it the red wire?

Is the solenoid releasing and the locker staying locked?

Fred, I cut both.

The solonoid did dissengage but the locker won't release. My thinking is that it's kind of sticking because it hasn't been used in 2 years. Driving may free it up. We'll find out saturday. If not, the ride will be dangerous but the 38's will come sooner...

Dangerous? Why? Real men don't disengage their lockers... wait, maybe that's backwards. Either way, I wouldn't call it dangerous, but it's definitely different. 😈 You'll learn to steer with the gas pedal. 😀

Seriously, drive backwards a few hundred feet, it may unbind and release.

Jack up the rear of your jeep to un-bind the gear teeth. Rotate one tire forward then backward several times to to see if the teeth will unlock. Also check the wires at the difff to see if one of the wires is getting power from somewhere other than your switch.
