[Sorry it has taken me a while to post this.]
On June 12 we and Jeff Bakken went on Strawberry Trail to just run a check up on it due to not being able to make the entire trail on our Spring Maintenance Run. We were able to make it over the summit and to the other side. We did run into some high snow drifts but Bakken broke trail with the beast and we were able to follow. There weren't any more felled trees that needed removal, however, as expected, there is still some trimming that is needed.
The entrance gate was closed. However, the gate nearest the DOT maintenance yard was torn down completely and we had to walk around to find the poles it normally is attached to. We did what we could to "close" it again. We stopped at the top and had lunch and while there, five dirt bike riders came by and we were able to hand out the maps provided by the Forest Service and inform them that the trail was officially closed. They were cool about it. There was also a cyclist that zoomed by as we were talking to the bikers. Incidentally there was some seriously amazing storms moving in and the cyclists was so panicked to get off the ridge so he would not get struck by lightening he didn't bother to return a friendly "hello" much alone receive a map. Hope he didn't get toasted.
It was a good day on the trail.
I posted some pictures.
