I have blocked off the week of August 16 - 23 to be in the Mammoth Lake, June Lake, Mono Lake area.  I will be based in a VRBO in June lake but plan on camping out some of the time.  I am unfamiliar with the runs in the area but there are many ranging from easy to difficult.  The only one I have done is Bodie Ghost Town entering from the North which is a super easy trail.  Runs I am interested in exploring would be Laurel Lakes, Sand Canyon, Copper Mountain, Deer Mountain, Mono Crater Trail ands Deer Mountain Trail.  I have not been on any of these trails.  These are all described easy to moderate, stock 4 X 4 with moderate ground clearance.  There are other difficult trails too ( when I am alone I stick to easy to moderate trials).  I have listed my plans below but nothing is set in stone.  If there were others interested, I am open to other ideas and trails.  If there is any interest, please post.

8-16  Saturday.      Drive to June Lake.

8-17  Sunday.        Trail Run, Deadman Pass - Hike to Devils Postpile/Rainbow Falls.

8-18  Monday.       Trail run, Laurel Lakes - camp overnight.

8-19  Tuesday.       Trail run, Sand Canyon.

8-20  Wednesday.   Trial run, Kavanaugh Ridge - camp overnight.

8-21  Thursday.      Trial run, Copper Mountain.

8-22  Friday.          Trail runs, Mono Crater Trail/Deer Mountain Trail.

8-23 Saturday.       Hike to Parker Lake.  Head home.

There is a publication by Roger Mitchell, "High Sierra SUV Trails, Volume 1, The East Side", that covers these areas. I will do some research & see which trails are covered & any specifics & post up anything that is mentioned in this forum. Our schedules dictate that we will need to get loser to these dates before we make any commitments, but we will do so when we get a little closer.

Jeff.  How far is Bodie from your VRBO?  Are other VRBOs an option?  Using a home base approach may be doable for me/us.  Thoughts?  Oh, maybe you can text/message me the cost of your VRBO so I can budget for it?

Bodie State Park is 45 miles from June Lake or about 1 hour.  I found my VRBO on VRBO.com.  When I reserved mine there were many others available as well as hotels and I think some resorts.  I think my VRBO, which is a condo overlooking a lake, is about $350/night.  I did see less expensive VRBOs as well.
