No changes to plans, still going to snow patrol on MET Saturday 1/20 and chili cook off. We will see everyone at the regular meeting spot Saturday morning!

Does that alert mean that MET is closed from 88 to Silver Lake Road and that the lower portion and the gate off Sly Park Road is still open for snow runs??

Thanks Roy for clarifying.  I’ll be there - with chili and a batch of cookies (trying out a new recipe).  Excited to see you all!

Everyone. What this means is that the plans originally made are still in play. Of all the years I have done this I have never been denied access to a snow patrol at MET. That said, if a miracle happens and the heavens rain more snow than we can handle we will find a spot to do nothing more than to have a club event in the snow.

I think we will be fine and have a fantastic day in the snow. I’ll see you there.

In the future it would be best to contact the run leader with any concerns you have versus expressing those in a way that creates confusion for others. Thank you.

I’m not sure how we all got off course but the snow patrol at MET is still on as planned including chili with beans.
MET is closed every year which is why we do a snow patrol.
We will stay the course as planned and hopefully have a great day in the snow enjoying each others company while rescuing those ignoring the road closures.

Appreciate the clarification. Apologies for getting off topic.

Roy, this is an emergency closure above and beyond a seasonal closure and our adopt-a-trail agreement administrative rights do not grant us access in an emergency closure order. Additionally, the gate is closed at the dam so we wouldn't have access without a key. I am in talks with the forest service to see if we can get permission/a key. If we do not have access, the run will be re-located to Wrights Lake Rd as the forest service believes that this is the next most likely road to be inundated with folks snow wheeling.

Notwithstanding any changes coming from Kris' post above, Lynda, the master of the no-beans chili, has to work on this day & therefore cannot make the maintenance run, as planned. All nay-sayers must be patient for an opportune time in the near future to savor the benefits. Good luck to those participating!

Aileen and I still plan on going.  Hoping to hear update on road conditions later as to where we'll end up.

Hello all that is coming to the Snow Patrol tomorrow the destination has been changed by request of the forestry service to Wrights Lake to help out there. Everything else stays the same the same place to meet same time and then we’ll head up to Wright’s Lake instead of MET if you have any further questions or concerns, you can post up or call 916-200-8872. Hope to see you all tomorrow and bring your best chili if you’re competing. 🙂

I’ve never seen so much snow on Sly Park Road. It looked like MET. The MET closures are confirmed. Wrights Lake should be fun. See y’all tomorrow.

Sounds like this snow patrol is for the pros - so I’m going to sit this one out.

I’ll be ready for the next one - with chili and cookies - if Mother Nature cooperates.

Have fun and be safe!

After hearing Uncle Tom is closed too, Aileen isn't comfortable bringing the stock bronco.

So we both have to pass on this one.  Have fun. The snow looks great on the Highway 50 cams.

The Roger’s are out for tomorrow - if plans change to help those in need we can help as necessary - with trees down, power outages, etc there’s no need for us to clog the roads - we will be available for supply relief and transportation efforts…..

Unfortunately I won’t make this one-  not  back from Tahoe in time. I did drive past wrights lake road today and the plow berm is pretty high. Be safe out there y’all!

Everyone got off Ice House Road safely. After enjoying some time airing down and giving Romika a chance to pull out a Jeep we decided that was enough and we wanted to eat. We declined the tower spot with Mach 1 wind speeds and Kris found us a cool little spot just past where we stopped to pee just hours before. The fire was great. The food was amazing. We had 5 different amazing chilis to try. The fixings were fantastic and so were the deserts. That corn bread was fire. I had a great time with you all. Thanks for making it so awesome.
