I know this is a long way off, but its one of those trips you need to plan for.
I have booked my accommodations for MOAB EJS 2013. I know of a couple of others who have done the same. I am staying in the Solona Vallejo Condos from Saturday 3/23 to Saturday 3/30. (same as last time) I booked through Accommodations Unlimited. No money due until January of next year for the room, but it is ear marked for me. Solano Vallejo is a nice complex with a garage(not that i fit, too wide) in each unit and washer and dryers in each unit. They have 2 and 3 br units. I booked a two bedroom as my parents and family will be going next year. I met some guys from Washington who informed me yesterday they booked thier condo again (right next to mine) great group, they are bringing 4 jeeps next year.
If you are interested and want to know anything about where to stay, cost to go, what to bring, etc.. let me know.

How's the foot?
The foot is getting better everyday. I played in my basketball game on Monday, still can feel it but ran ok.
Ok, so Moab is pretty small about 5 to 10 miles across. It was less than that every morning to the staging areas for the Red Rock runs. I will only do one of those as they cost 50 a pop and take the whole day, slow going. Do one to get the raffle ticket. I have learned its better to do vendor runs and runs with small groups. You save the $50 and can do two trails a day that way.
Here is a rough cost break down.
Drive out 4 tanks of gas about 900 miles = $300
7 nights = $490 hotel to $2100 condo
About a tank of gas every other day so say 4 =$300
Drive home 4 tanks of gas = $300
Food = $350 ( figure $50 a day) we ate out every night.
Grand total = $1800 - 3200.
Gas is the same for 1 or a car load, room doesn't fluctuate, food could be more or less, this doesn't cover repairs or 8 bottles of steering fluid. If you get a few people in the same condo you could possibly lessen the room cost. The condo is the way to go, your jeep is close to you, ours had a garage, washer and dryer and the ability to make lunches and cook breakfast. Hope this helps.

Hey guys just found this forum.. I'm planning on being at the June meeting and will introduce my self. My Wifes family live in Moab and were are there every Jeep Safari.
Our family has lots of room for tents and maybe even a few campers. It would be a great trip for a bunch of friends to make. We know lots of back country trails that only locals know of..
Just a heads up..

I'm resurrecting this post cause its time!!!! If you go to the red rock web-site. http://www.rr4w.com/ you can go ahead and register your account for EJS. Come January 22nd you can begin registering for Red Rock runs. You want to do at least one so you can get a raffle ticket for the big drawing Friday night.
I know several people going and we will have a northern california convoy heading out the weekend it gets going. Red rock runs begin on Sunday and run through the following Saturday. This year some friends of mine from Washington have procured a guide to do Pritchet Canyon on Wednesday. Pritchet is the hardest trail there.
If anyone wants to go or wants information let me know. Accommodations fill up fast.

We're super excited. We are leaving on Saturday, and should be there Sunday for a fun filled week. Just a reminder We have family in Moab with lots of open space. So if anyone need a place for a camper, or just a place to hang out everyone's welcome...

Trail Report Day 1:
We arrived in MOAB today and got situated and ran into friends from previous runs and last year. Ken from Stockton is here, Nate from Grass Valley, and Alex from Washington. We went and ran part of Steel Bender tonight as a "suspension check" before the first official run tomorrow.
