When you say mild are we talking 2-3 feet of snow or what? Last weekend when we went up the hill past Grass Valley, mild was 2-3 Feet of snow as nobody got stuck since its all powder right now and nothing is really sticking. Is that what you are planning of something else? Last year when we did iron mountain for our snow patrol any SUV with four wheel drive could gone down that road to where we stopped and ate lunch, I would classify that run as easy. Just trying to determine whats going on. Where out of Grass Valley are you heading? Also is it just a snow run or is there going to be some other activities, sledding, snow shoeing, etc..

Shoot...now even i'm confused. There isn't much I can guarantee about the snow conditions on the run. My goal is to go find some snow that my truck can handle without getting stuck every five feet. You won't need 40s and two lockers. If we hit snow like that we'll turn around and find a different spot unless Someone feels like breaking trail and the rest can follow. You will need 4x4, good tires, recovery points, and some flexibility. I hope to get past where a stock truck will go but i only have one truck so i'm not going to beat on it to get somewhere. I don't plan to stop and sled. When i compare it to iron mountain i'm thinking easyish snow wheeling as opposed to Fordyce or some of the past snow runs i've lead in the 4runner which sound similar to what Huck was doing. I've got a few places in mind. "Out of Grass Valley" covers thousands of roads in my mind. Still need to figure a few things out. Still on the road posting with a phone.

Sounds great Keane. Since our rigs are similar in capability I figured it would be a run I would be interested in. My wife would kill me if I broke her Jeep. Of course, if I did break her Jeep it would be fixed in a matter of days no matter the cost; as opposed to my Jeep that sits in the driveway waiting to be fixed for a YEAR! 🙄
I used to wheel a lot. . .

Sounds great! Can you provide the address And estimate how long it will take me to get there?

I added details to the first post.
Brad, from your house about 1:15.
I want to check with some "locals" about snow level tomorrow but I'm strongly leaning toward the Malakoff Diggins area. Any thoughts? It's a bitsouth of where Huck was (Pike) but I think we can find some fun there. Backbone, Snow Tent, and Derbec roads should all have plenty of snow. We should be able to check the flow in the Yuba, take in some solid scenery, test my truck/the Pearl in the snow, and ring in the new year in style!

So there's about 4' of snow at Bowman (5560' +/-) so we're offically not going there. 😀 I've got a couple of routes picked out at various elevations. We'll play it by ear but in general we'll be in this area:

I need to do at least some type of testing before I hit the trails so I'm going to head over to PC and see if anything binds instead.
If everything is ok then I'll start on runs.
Bummer. No testing ground like the real world though!

I agree. PC is a shorter tow home than grass valley.

AAA+ and it doesn't matter!
I'm just kidding. Just looking forward to tomorrow. Been forever since I've been out. I'm debating whether I should bring a chainsaw. Got this one for Christmas so I'm thinking it's the one. http://www.baileysonline.com/itemdetail ... +01&catID=
