Okay, sorry for the late trail ride up. 😀
Jeff, Carl, Shawn and myself all met up at the Subway at Pollock Pines around 730pm Friday. Shawn is a coworker of Carl's and has a nice 2007 JK Rubicon on 35"s. The weather was miserable at Subway, cold, windy and heavy rain. We all were eager to hit MET and see what was in store.
We drove approximately 10 miles up MET before the rain turned into snow. We drove another 3 miles or so before pulling over to air down. The snow fall was heavy and it was hard to capture any pictures. I often found it hard to see at times as well when driving. We drove several miles up MET only passing one Toyota on his way down. We continued forward progress with Jeff at the lead most of the time breaking through the fresh powder before we realized that Shawn was no longer at the rear of the pack. We all stopped and Carl who was behind Jeff and I managed to get stuck in the middle of the trail, blocking the ruts we had made. So we decided to turn around and head back to find Shawn since it was about 1045pm. The snow was coming down hard and Jeff had a sweet white afro going on.
Jeff managed to stick himself in the snow when attempting to turn around. I gave Jeff a tug and got him turned around. Jeff then strapped to Carl in an attempt to pull him out only to find himself stuck again but with tension on the strap to Carl. Jeff hooked his almost frozen winch to Carl and was able to remove the strap and free himself. I attempted to pass Carl on his left to get behind him to pull him out. I almost made it but piled up enough powder on the front of my jeep to stop forward motion just two feet from our tracks. Unable to back up, I began to grab my winch cable when Carl and I heard Jeff's motor rev up as he passed Carl's truck on the left. Jeff then pulled me out and took off to go find Shawn while I stayed with Carl to get him unstuck and turned around. I will say, tugging Carl's Dodge, I thought I ripped my rear bumper off but it was enough to get him free.
Carl turned around and we headed back down the trail to meet up with Jeff and Shawn. Shawn apparently got stuck and managed to shovel himself free before Jeff met up with him. All four of us drenched and frozen began down the trail. We had to stop often to scrap of the piling snow on our windshields. I will say I haven't ever been in this much of a snow fall but was a really amazing experience. 😯 Shawn was the only one that had to be strapped on the way down. We passed one solo toyota driving up as we left but he didn't want to chat at all. We also found a chevy cavalier driving very slowly down the road.
We decided to drive all the way back to Subway to air up since the snow was sticking all over the road and it was still snowing heavily and we wanted an opportunity to warm up. My steering was feeling really hard to turn so I decided to pull over and investigate only to find my front left tire pretty much flat. I aired up that tire and continued down to Subway. We arrived at Subway at approximately 12am and began to air up. I checked the pressure of my tire that went flat and it had dropped about 15psi since I filled it. I investigated more and realized I had a gum wrapper in my valve stem cap that caused my valve stem to release pressure when screwed on.
Carl had some warm home made brownies for us as we all aired up, which I will say were a wonderfully treat after our adventurous trip. We all said good bye and drove home in the snow fall that soon turned into rain. I arrived home at about 130am and fell asleep with dreams of being a dodge recovery vehicle.
Um...what?

Thanks for the write up. It helps for those of use that don't get out much anymore. 😀
I hope you don't mind, but I posted it in the event write up section of the main page. If it's a problem it's easy to take down, but I think it's important to show that we are actually doing stuff as a club.

Indeed great writeup. Understood that it would be slanted Jeep even though it was a 50/50 recovery split across makes. 😛
I'll say thanks on behalf of Greg for the post up Bender.
btw -- Jeff said something like wentworth might also be a good candidate. Is that near your area? If so....I think we need to get you out my good sir. 😀
