I'd love to do a day run.  I know my jeep is capable, I just don't think my pace is Brad pace.

I meet all of the qualifications except that I have a front dana 30 with chromoly axle shafts. Maybe we can schedule a day run another day or go the same day with another group that might want to go at a slower pace or who may not meet all of the qualifications for this run. I would also would like to do a one or possibly two night Rubicon run so I can hang out and watch other people wheel and enjoy the scenery and the trail a little more than you can on a day run.

I think I would be more interested in this... I haven't done the rubicon yet, mainly because I hate crowded wheeling trails. I don't know if I would want my first con trip to be a sprint. I will keep watching to see what the "slowpokes" plan entails 🙂

We have our own post now so we don't derail the day run thread haha.

I have been looking at dates in September. Labor Day is Catina for the con. The 15th is marlin crawler event. Both huge events.

Small event weekend of the 8th and 22nd...50 or less per event.

29th club day run? Or partial day/ camp for whoever wants to join.

Brian, I propose we do an overnight run starting on Friday September 29th. Both groups could meet up and start together and those of us who would be doing a two day run can follow the day run group and go at our own pace.

That sounds like a good plan to me. Starting on a Friday morning would be good

Okay, if we are going to do this Rubicon overnight run then we need to get organized and get it on the calendar. Brad is leading a Rubicon day run on the same day, Friday September 29th for those who are interested see this thread Brad's Rubicon Day Run. So far it sounds like Brian, Trevor and Dave are interested in doing an overnight Rubicon run beginning on Friday September 29th. It would be nice to see more club members on both of these runs! I propose that both groups meet up at Loon Lake at a designated time. The overnight group can follow, if we can keep up with the day run pace, until Buck Island Lake where we will camp. I understand there may be others who can't take Friday off work who might be interested in coming up and meeting us on Friday night. We can wheel back to Little Sluice, watch others coming in who attempt Little Sluice (always entertaining!), and then meet up there with those coming in Friday night. We can then wheel back to our camp at Buck Island Lake for the night. Saturday morning you can fish. My son likes to hike up and fish Rock Bound Lake where he has caught some nice fish (he is a catch and release guy mostly but a trout makes a great breakfast). On Saturday we finish the run up to Tahoe where you either turn right or left depending on weather you head back on Hwy 50 or 80. Sound like a plan?

Sounds like a good plan. Not sure how long I want to try to keep the day run pace though lol. I'd rather cruise and enjoy myself.

Loni has to work Friday. So if anyone that see's this is thinking about coming up Friday night after work annnnd has a spare seat for her that would be awesome. If not I may have to figure out another plan. Can't leave her behind!

Me and Casey will Probably be out there. Keep and eye out for 2 Jeep Cherokees, one is black on 4.5 inch lift on 35s the other is white on 7 inch lift on 35s.

What time will you guys hopefully be arriving at the entrance?

Who is planning on attending the Alternate Overnight Rubicon Run beginning at Loon Lake on Friday September 29th and coming out at Tahoe on Saturday the 30th? Some people are planning to go first thing on Friday while others have indicated that they may be coming up Friday afternoon or evening and would like to meet up with the morning group at a designated camping spot (probably at Buck Island). Please post up on this thread if you are going or are interested in going and indicate what time you would like to start.

Since people will be coming in from the Hwy 80/Georgetown side and others will be coming up the Hwy 50/Icehouse side, the morning group can meet up at 9 a.m. on Friday at the trailhead staging area right before the bottom of the spillway (next to the restrooms). If you have never been there, follow Ice House Road around the north side of Loon Lake past Northshore Campground. At Northshore Campground the road turns to gravel. Continue over the dam and then turn left down to the trailhead. You can see the trailhead and staging area off to your left from the top of the dam (click for map: Rubicon Trailhead)

Please be self sufficient as far as food, water camping, etc. If you have any questions about minimum requirements just ask. It is recommended that you have 35 inch tires and at least one locker but I have done the trail on 33's and two lockers. Remember, it is the Rubicon and you're a long way from an auto parts store! Once we know who is coming up in the afternoon or evening we will coordinate that group or groups so that they can ideally wheel in together.

We will be doing some night wheeling but you can stay at camp if your are not interested in night wheeling. This will be a casual paced trip and we will stop and enjoy the sights and trail and spend some time watching other people wheel. There should be time for fishing on Friday afternoon if interested. My son has hiked up and caught some nice trout in Rockbound Lake which larger and feeds Buck Island Lake. As Greg says, let's go wheeeeeling!

We will not be attending this run, but rather going on the Strawberry maintenance run instead, which was added late resulting from running into Kyle at the saw shop the other day & asking about it. There also was the "Rubicon Day Run", which was tentatively scheduled for the 29th. Not sure what's happening with that (I will have to work). Isn't it nice to have a choice, or is it?

I'm in if you and Tyler are still interested. I haven't done the Rubicon in five years so I would really like to go. I hate to miss the Strawberry maintenance run because I know the trail needs a lot of work and because I have a chainsaw cert. If this run doesn't happen then I will go on the maintenance run.

Well since no one else wants to join and I don't want to leave loni behind on Friday, it looks like I'm out.

I would love to go another time! At this point it looks like next year.

Maintenance run it is.
