Dayna and I got back from the Rubicon safely yesterday. We went in Thursday afternoon. We spent allot of time with R.T.F. people and various LEO's and forest service personnel and learned allot about property lines, boundaries, and the fight with the water board. We also learned that the bypass above Little Sluice is now closed, and the long bypass to the left (heading towards Buck) is now the legal bypass. You can also legally bypass L.S. by cutting out to the right up heckler hill right in the beginning of the sluice. Thousand dollar hill is also closed.
We had a great time. Little Sluice was a ghost town most of the time but Buck Island was pretty packed. There was still the normal idiots out there and lot's of "white flowers" on the hikes we took into the back country, but most people seemed well behaved. I think it was due to the fact that you couldn't go an hour with out seeing some kind of trail patrol.
2 big problems for me were one, the mosquitoes were HORRIBLE and immune to OFF, and two there was a certain "outlaw" club there that were just being complete idiots including winching down a tree for firewood. It was a dead tree but I still don't know if that's OK to do. I never found out if they got in any trouble.
It was a great few days and we passed allot of people coming in Saturday while we were on out way out, so I think we got out just in time.

I just get so confused when they keep changing the route. I swear they do it just so they can harass us. I won't know which way to drive when I get out there. Saying that 1,000 dollar hill is closed means nothing to me. I have absolutely no idea where that is and won't know if I'm driving on it.
I used to wheel a lot. . .

Here's the latest info I've seen about the new official route.
