We received this in our club email and I am posting for anyone that may be interested:
We’d love for you to join us for some great 4 Wheeling, fun and food at Tahoe Donner. On September 15th, the Tahoe Donner 4 Wheel Drive Club will hold its 4th annual Sierra 4x4 Trails and Ales. The single day event will begin with an exciting and challenging trail run of the Bear Valley OHV located about 10 miles north of Truckee.
Following the trail run, all participants are invited to join us at Northwood’s Clubhouse at Tahoe Donner for some fun activities. The Clubhouse has Bocce Ball, Horseshoes, Volley Ball and Corn Hole and we will have some music and a cash bar. Then at 5:00PM we will have a delicious BBQ buffet under the tent behind the Clubhouse.
So here are the details:
Who: Any 4x4 that has good ground clearance and is not a wide model vehicle like a pick-up truck. Several sections of the trail are very narrow and there are some challenging hill climbs and rocks to get over. However, all the major obstacles have bypasses. Stock Jeeps can and have done this trail with no problems. Each trail run will be led by an experienced Club Member and we will have spotters and winches at the more challenging obstacles.
When: September 15th, with 2 start times to choose from. You can sign up for either a 10AM start or a 11AM start.
Where: Meet at Northwood’s Clubhouse parking area 30 minutes before your scheduled trail run. Northwood’s Clubhouse is located at 11509 Northwoods Blvd, Truckee, CA. We will have a registration tent set up for you to get your dinner tickets and a ribbon for your vehicle.
Food: The BBQ buffet includes:
- Caesar Salad
- BBQ Pork Ribs
- Bone-in Chicken Breasts
- Texas Baked Beans
- Veggie Pasta Salad
- Brownies
Cost: The cost for the trail run and buffet dinner is $40 per person for adults and $20 per person for children 12 and under.
How to Register: You can register and pay with a credit card on our web site. Our web site is : td4wheelers.org

Awesome trail. Can be run by almost any stock rig with 4x4. Has obstacles with bypasses so the more built rigs can have fun too. It is VERY narrow, as the maintaining club just trims the trails for side by sides it seems... so be prepared for high sierra pin striping.
That's too bad. It's been a few years since I've ran that trail, but it used to be the most well maintained trail around.
I used to wheel a lot. . .

Ya, it is a shame... I went up there late last year and couldn't even find the trail head any more. I need to get back up there and do a detailed mapping before trails close up for the winter. We have requested the FS to let someone else maintain the trail, but they said the group is turning in their forms, and as long as they are, then the FS can't remove them from maintenance responsibility and let someone else do it.
