Sierra Trek 2009 - Winch Hill 5 - August 6-8

I was out of town for the July meeting and have a few questions regarding the
Sierra Trek.

I was planning to go and help on this trip with my wife and kids (Aug 6th to Aug 8th) I was wondering a few things.
Is there a place to park a Camper or just tent camping?
Is everyone bringing their rigs for our own play time?
Where is the camp spot Meadow lake? date and time everyone is going to be there?
Who do I give the T-shirt money to and how much?

EDIT BY BENDER - See page 2 for the details on the run.

We took our 26' class c motorhome in there last year and didn't have any trouble getting in or out or finding room for it.

I'll be towing our Jeep up there to use to get to the winch hill. Last year I don't think anyone went out for play time. I think we were all pretty tired after moving rocks around all day.

Meadow Lake. We'll be leaving Thursday morning but haven't worked out details yet.

Definately bring your rig. I'd love to do a little wheeling in the evening. Maybe run down to WH3 and back up.
I need to get my Jeep fixed embarassed

I used to wheel a lot. . .

Hold onto the shirt money for a bit. I still don't have a final total and am having some trouble with the place. Between Cal4Wheel and the shirt guys I'm not sure I'm willing to work on this run next year.

Trailer camping is good to go.
Looks like momma will be towing the trailer and I'll be putting along with the jeepster.
Can't wait.
See you guys in a weekish or so.

I should have dollar totals for the shirts tonight. I'll have them in my hand by Monday or Tuesday or next week. Yeah, I know that's late. If you want them early, maybe we could meet half way or something. Otherwise, I'll bring them to Trek. Custom, send in your own stuff orders aren't going to happen, but they held their price and they blew everyone (including the normal Rancho place) out of the water. 8) It's all on my credit card now, so I'd appreciate prompt payment when I get the totals. mr-green

Thanks Keane. I want to wash mine before wearing it. If we aren't going to meet ahead of time - and this is a big favor - can you wash my shirts?

One thing I'm funny about is that I won't wear new clothes unless they are washed.

Also, what was the per item total? How much am I supposed to bring you?

Let me know the total and I'll get it to you asap. Maybe we could all meet for dinner and get the shirts from Keane and pay him off. Plus, it's dinner mr-green

Not a bad idea! This would be next week, which is better for me.

I thought I was the only one who did that. 🙄

Keane, do you have a Paypal account we could send money to?

Keane, any time in your busy schedule for a dinner meeting?

My schedule is rough next week. I'm may be in contract negotiations for the District both Tuesday and Wednesday. 🙁 I'll know more after this Thursday. We should be able to work something out. Worst case, I can wash them, but since I have a well, there's no chlorine in my water to kill the bugs. 😀 Plus, when it's this hot we hang them on the line to dry. I'll throw some fabric softener in there so they will be snuggle soft and fresh. 😀

I've sent money with PayPal, but I've never gotten it. Do you have to set it up differently?

I don't think you have to do anything different. If you want to give it a try, email or pm my total to me along with your paypal account name and I'll try sending the $ to you.

No extra setup, just make sure those sending the money send it as "personal" and "Other" or "payment owed", and send it from money from their bank account or their paypal balance, not a credit card.

Keane, I'm ok with the washing proposal if we can't meet. I will bring cash, so just get me a total and it will give you something to spend on food in Truckee on your way home!

So now that we've got the shirt thing figured out, let's get to the fun stuff...

I edited the title so we can make this the "official" thread.

Cal4Wheel has asked that we be on the trail the same time as last year:

Thursday - 1:45 pm
Friday - 8:15 am
Saturday - 8:15 am

I told them we may push the Friday and Saturday times back but that we'd be there on time on Thursday to make sure things were ready to go.

Do we want to caravan up there? Do we want to do a potluck on Friday night? Who is in?

Sure. When & where? I won't be one of the fastest on the road with the rv/jeep combo though.

"Bender" wrote: Do we want to do a potluck on Friday night?

Not sure. I'll talk with Teddi.

"Bender" wrote: Who is in?

Teddi and I are definitely going. Don still says he's going but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be up to it when the time comes.

Cole and I are in. Sonia won’t know until the last minute, she is having a tough time getting the time off.

As of right now I am headed up sometime Wednesday, to try and get the spot we talked about.

We are in for the Friday night pot luck (2 of us). We also plan to make the early Thursday group, but plan to stop in Truckee to eat on the way. What is the caravan time? If we can work it out, it would be fun, if not, we'll meet everyone there.

What about shirts for paying volunteers this year? Any word?

Joe & I are in also. I might go up Wednesday after work.
Joe doesn't know what day he's leaving - depends on work schedule -
could be Thursday or Friday.
Potluck sounds good.
We will bring the shirt money to the Trek - Let us know the GRAND TOTAL!! rasta

Unless I'm not understanding what you're asking, none of us are "paying volunteers". Last year we all paid for the shirts we got through Trek. This year the message I got was that since we were getting our own shirts we didn't want to buy their shirts.
