Hi all,

At Sierra Trek, there are 1.4 volunteers (committee members) for every full paid attendee. This year there has been a lot of discussion about the role of committee members at Sierra Trek. The event is in need volunteers to help out in a variety of areas. If you are a committee member, and are therefore receiving a greatly reduced rate to attend Sierra Trek, it is expected that you will provide some form of valuable service in exchange for your committee member registration rate. For example, if you are just a passenger in a rig on the Outer Limits Run, and you don't do much other than ride along, you really aren't functioning like a committee member. As a result, and given the fact that there is great need this year for additional volunteers in other areas such as serving food, cooking, etc., we (Sierra Trek) are asking for you to volunteer in some fashion to assist in the putting on of this event. Foresthill Four Wheelers is in a similar situation in that they have committee members who work winch hill five but have others who don't and yet are committee members. We are hoping to get a list of people from both clubs who would be willing to help out with the kitchen duties this year (or possibly in some other area). Please post if you would be willing to assist us. Ideally we will be able to do something on Friday since we have the River Committee Run on Thursday and the Outer Limits Run on Saturday. I need a preliminary list of people who think that they may be able to help out in areas other than the Outer Limits run. Please post here if so.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hey Jeff, is volunteer organization something that C4W needs for ST26 in general? I ask because it would be nice to know the positions they need to fill, with the number of positions needed to make it successful. Kelly and I want to volunteer for Sunday breakfast, but we don't know the shift time, how long we need to be available for, and if those slots are already filled. I ask because this is something I can coordinate if there is a need. I'm very savvy with a spreadsheet, organization and communication. 🙂

It's my understanding that there are a lot of important positions that are still open, like communications, food shifts, etc. I will check with the 2026 chairman as to what organizational assistance or positions they may need. As for Sunday breakfast, I suspect they could use some help but let me check on that. I know the breakfast crew starts very early, especially the cooks. They could also use some help with general Trek setup on Tuesday/Wednesday and teardown on Sunday (stage, bar tent, dining tables and chairs etc.). Since we will have a number of people up there for several days in advance, maybe we can help with some setup activities. Teardown is always an issue because people often want to leave early on Sunday so labor is always needed and welcome on Sunday. In addition, and I don't know the date but will find out, they always need help loading trailers a week or two in advance of Trek at the Cal 4X4 office in Sacramento and sometimes need people who can pull the trailers up there. It's a big event and a lot goes on to make it happen!

This thread is specifically dedicated to committee participation. All other Sierra Trek communications should take place on the main 2026 Sierra Trek thread. I received the committee registration link today. Here is what the email said:

"Hi Everyone,
Here is the link to committee sign up . Please understand that if your significant other or your kids sign up as committee, they are expected to help. Copiloting is not a committee position. There are many ways to help out around Trek Town".

When I send out the link to individuals for the committee registration, I would first like to know who in your family will be using it to register, and if more than one person in your family or group will be registering with it, what committee role will they be volunteering for. If they are just a passenger on the Outer Limits Run, then they either need to pay the full registration rate or serve as committee in some other role (i.e. kitchen, etc.). As soon as I get that information I will send you the registration link. As a reminder, please do not share the link with anyone within and especially outside of our club. I am the only one authorized to send the link to our club members.

Thanks,
Jeff
