I've always heard great things about this basic trail, more so for it's scenery. I've never been there and actually have this Sunday open for this day trip. Would also like to just check out the area since so much is around there (i.e., Fordyce, etc.).
I haven't thought of meet time or location as of yet, but thought to pitch this here for any accompanying interest.
Open to anyone, member/nonmember. This is not an official Posse sponsored run as I feel I'm still a nub.

Thanks
So the plan is to meet for breakfast at Sweet Peas 8am or so, followed by being at trailhead for Signal Peak ~9-9:30. Possibly have lunch at the top depending on time and ppl.
Afterwards then check out the Pierce OHV trail/area since we're right there by it.
People have some choices here on when to bug out.
I'll be on Ch10.

My favorite run ... must go a couple of times each year. Great introductory trail.
Lunch/snacks is a hoot at the top. Take windbreaker as it will be windy at the very least (7000'). Also take the walking trail (easy, but be careful) out to the old stone building where the watchmen used to stay. Super good pics along the way and looking up and down the corridor.
FYI: the first commercial use of the telephone in the USA was by those watchmen to call down to the camps at Truckee and Soda Springs in the event of a fire.

Myself and Coworker with his girlfriend met at Sweet Peas. Thanks so much for that Bender as it was the perfect place for me!! They liked it too. Since it was just us 2 rigs (3 people), we had a very casual breakfast and got to the Cisco Grove ext 10:30.
We sort of made it...not. 🙂 Went with a coworker that just got an FJ (forgot the year) but you'll see here in pics.
We came in Cisco Grove exit. Started up the "easy way", which was great for his girlfriend (new to wheeling). Ended up not recognizing the left turn to go Signal peak (no signage this side) and continued on down to Fordyce Lake. It was fantastic day. Figured we'd try to spot the turn on the way back. Not.
Got confused on the directions and then went to Eagle Lakes Exit as last resort. They were a bit apprehensive on starting that harder side. First time out with this rig but we hiked the starting hill to get a feel. He watched me go up and then gave it a shot by just being very careful. He was learning his manual with the choke and an uncooperative carb. 😀 It was a good run up about a mile or so. Based on time...which was after 2 pm or so we decided to turn around to make it out ok. The turnaround was fun!! I've got video but don't have it available. My big boat took a few turns.
Great day and still had fun. Worked out well timing wise and comfort level for them actually.
