OfflineI can only comment on Deer Valley run, which it's amazing to me how much the trail changed from couple of years ago, which made it more challenging & fun. I'll hold on comments for Greg's input, but all I can say is Deer Valley was a blast & successful for everyone on the run. Thanks for Jeff Root's efforts on orchestrating & help for a great day.

OfflineThank you to everyone for another great run. I appreciate Greg and Jeff's patience with my spotting/support, which helped get a stock Bronco across the trail without any body damage!
The weather and trail were perfect. Everyone had a great time from what I saw and no one took any significant damage.

OfflineTrip Recap:
I meet Jeff and Brian at the Sandy Flat Campground around 7 p.m. on Friday. Jeff saved us a site in a fairly bare campground and had the fire going which was a nice relief from driving in an open top doorless jeep. We stayed up until midnight sharing stories and watching Jeff fall into the wood pile.
Saturday morning, Dale and Tim joined us as we packed up camp and headed to the Slick Rock Trailhead. We aired down and quickly got into the gate keeper obstacle which everyone cleared pretty effortlessly. Overall, the day warmed up and it was a beautiful cruise on a very nice trail. The trail posed very little challenges for the group until later at the gauntlet. We took lunch along the creek and enjoyed the noise of the babbling brook. We explored the area then made our way towards the gauntlet. I was slightly apprehensive of the gauntlet, but before I could park my jeep to walk up to it, Dale had scaled the obstacle and Brian was making quick work of it. Tim went up with ease, I made it as well, and Jeff was a seasoned pro at navigating the ledges. We then meandered off the trail when Dale decided to put on a show and lift a tire 6 feet into the air after slipping into a crack he was attempting to straddle.
We made it off the trail and aired up at Alpine Lake campground around 3 p.m. We then moseyed up highway 4 to our next campground. Jeff and dale set off to grab firewood for the camp while the rest of us settled in. We had an amazing fire and a nice large firepit thanks to the efforts of Jeff and Dale. We shared more stories and ate dinner as Jeff and Tim showcased their fire breathing skills. We slowly dwindled into our tents around 10 p.m. We awoke to another chili morning as we started a fire and packed up camp and awaited the arrival of Mike, Brad, Kathleen, Garrett and Guy.
Once everyone was at the campsite, we aired down and started the trail. It quickly became apparent that the trail was more challenging than most had anticipated. We had heard rumors from other weary travelers as they exited the trail. But overall, with a team of spotters, the group made decent progress and stopped at the first water crossing heading north for lunch. We enjoyed the comradery of each other and said farewell to Tim as he headed back towards Highway 4. The group pressed on with ease and completed the trail after one final stop at the second water crossing for a group photo.
We aired up at the Blue Lakes Campground and parted ways as some went to Tahoe and others down Highway 88. It was a great time and a great group of campers and wheelers. Everyone was helpful and looking out for each other. I can't wait to go back again.

OfflineIf anyone is interested, I made a video of our Slick Rock/Deer Valley Run. Fortunately, it mainly has my rig as I was unable to capture much filming of other rigs on the run.

Offlinethanks for the invite and warm welcome guys! It was nice seeing a few faces from Fordyce/Sierra Trek.
Ya’ll are a stand up group. Dale, it was awesome following you most of the way.
My nephew Andy loved it as well, and I got bonus points for taking him out of the house and away from video/computer games.
look forward to more runs to come (maybe in spring?!)
cheers,
Mike

Mike, I'm glad you were able to join us on this run and that your nephew had a good time. Our club does some snow patrols on Mormon Imigrant Trail (MET) during winter and the spring. Feel free to join us if you want to do some snow wheeling. Basically we set up a check point and provide maps and advice to people coming up to wheel and play in the snow. We also go out and patrol the road and assist stuck vehicles when needed. It's a good opportunity to do some snow wheeling while providing volunteer service for the Forest Service. We are trying to get runs posted farther in advance on our club calendar so keep an eye on the calendar and the forum for future runs and events. Hope to see you out with us again.
