You might want to confirm with the rangers to see if Spicer Reservoir road is open. As we didn't have much snow this year, they may have plowed it early, but often that road is snowed in past Memorial Day weekend where you can't access Slick Rock

Cancel this. Did a little digging and it appears to be open. They plowed early this year. Wet and possible some snow drifts towards Lake Alpine. Be prepared for weather changes this time of year. Picture below from last Memorial Day weekend.

Man, I'm cold just looking at that. I'm all for snow camping, as long as it's in a motorhome with a heater!

Planning on leaving sat morning. I have one other confirmed so far. I live in ranch murieta, which I think is on the way. Where are you coming from? Im open to meeting spots.

I live in elk grove. 99 and bond rd. I will be bringing a tent trailer to sleep in w gf and son.

Probably won't be camping overnight. Will just hang out at the lake for a bit to fish, and then head back. I assume you would take 99 to 4, and come in through Angels camp? I will be going 49 through jackson, and to angels camp. How about Angels Camp Starbucks (27 N Main St

Angels Camp, CA 95222)? What time are you planning on heading up. I was thinking about leaving around 8-8:30AM, which would get me in angles camp around 9:30. I am open to earlier, or later if you prefer.

Im thinking keaving here bout 8am. Prolly get in angles round 930 10. Slow going towing the tent trailer. Then head up there n find a spot i can setup.

Had a great time at Slickrock on Saturday. Trip was worth it just too see Prowling Panthers Samurai towing a 2500lb tent trailer on little wheels through a difficult rated trail (see pic of trailer meeting it's first rock, which also happens to be the first rock on the trail)!



Trail was a little crowded, but not enough to cause any major traffic jams. The trail is fairly short, and is fairly easy most of the way through until the Staircase at the end. To the disappointment of the crowd of spectators/hecklers gathered at the top of the Staircase, we did a fairly decent job of brute forcing our way up the ladder without breaking anything or causing too much damage (although you'd have thought otherwise based on the sounds coming from under my JK as I went up). Great pics and it looks like a fun time. Is the last XJ pic the hard section? This is one trail I haven't run before.

Yeah, that's the top part of the hard section. Here's a few more pics of it showing the full obstacle. The first pic is the harder top section, and the second pic is the bottom.
