Great trial run. Our trial looked pretty clean. Thanks for Brain and Brad for leading. Cookies and bread were delicious!! Thanks for the treats!

I got home at about 4:15 with some apple hill traffic.
Â
A couple of trail observations:
Very little trash
Very little brush cut back - there were/are some overhanging branches that can be cut back.
There are lots of logs lining the trail, and many that narrow or slightly re-direct the trail. These need to be dealt with.
We did cut logs partially re-directing the trail on the back side of the trail.
Strawberry Canyon Rd needs some help!
We counted at least 3 culvert pipes that are completely clogged - resulting in creek flows across the road and erosion. These need to be dug up with shovels and pick axes. -Â
We cut down/removed a hanging snag tree on Strawberry Canyon Rd. Pay attention to your surroundings. Some are quite dangerous.

In speaking with our sub-group, I think we may need a committed saw-cutting effort to shorten logs so they can be physically moved.
Also, if Kris can get his mini excavator to Strawberry Canyon Rd. and clear the culverts before winter as a separate maintenance effort, or on the third run? This is not up the 4wd trail.

The kiosks need work. The strawberry side needs a need cross-support bracket brought up., and ensuring the roof is re-aligned. This is fairly simple.
The 88 side needs a ground brace to stabelize it, re-painting, and the roof realigned.
Both the hard signs need new decals for both the USFS and the club.

With regards to Kris and the excavator work, if you do go up on a random weekday let me know. I typically have more weekdays free than weekends this time of year. I might be available for coming up for the day to help with some grunt work as your tractor does the big stuff.

We noted a few places it looks like people might be trying to create by passes and a few water spots we might want to keep an eye on. I sent Kris pictures with location info in metadata for our report out.
