June 7 2020 will be our first maintenance run of the year on Strawberry Pass Trail. This is the trail the club sponsors.  The fall run will be held on a Saturday in an attempt to accommodate peoples schedules. To maintain member status you must make 1 of the 2 maintenance runs. If anyone is unable to make this event and wasn’t on the spring run or fall run last year please talk to me at the meeting or send me a PM.  That said, this is about trail clearing and maintenance for the forest service.  Our key goal for this run is bucking the trees the equipment knocked down repairing the trail and moving the rocks back into place.

Trip info:

Meeting place – Shell at Pollock Pines exit off Highway 50 at 8:30am.  We will meet and after a quick drivers meeting, split into groups, and will head up to the trailhead about 9:00AM.

Things to bring:

-Gloves

-Loppers/hand saw

-Chainsaw (please only USFS certified operators, no exceptions) and safety gear (chaps, eye protection, ear protection)

-Tree Savers (to wrap around rocks)

-Crowbars/breaker bars to move rocks

-Water

-Lunch

-Door magnets

-Good attitude (we aren’t the police)

Please post if you will be attending.  A rig is not necessary to attend as there are plenty of open seats.  Just post up if you will need a ride and I will make sure you have a seat before we leave the parking lot.  If this is your first trail run with the club then please review the vehicle requirements.  Expect more details at the drivers meeting.

Wish I could be there. Returning that day from a week long camping trip in Nevada. Catch you on the next maintenance.

I doubt my Jeep will be fixed by then but I would like to ride along with someone who has room for me, my chainsaw and my chainsaw fuel and safety gear. Ideally in a vehicle with easy access to my saw since we make frequent stops to cut.

Thanks,

Jeff

Lori And I will be going.

Question for this run, Can My friends, Skip and Cindy that have the red Tin-top Suzuki Samurai, that was at the Pizza meeting, go in on this run? Or will they have to park it and ride? It has a rear locker... It actually did fairly good out at Prairie City. Since this is a maintenance run and not a dedicated 4X4 run.

I want to let him know up front, so he knows ahead of time.

If I can't build it, then it's something that should be bought.

I think what's important is for people to know this is a work event and not a run. So don't expect to be out wheeling.  That's all.  You may wheel after its over.

Yes I am letting Skip know that it is a maintenance run to do work on the Strawberry trail and that is the total focus of this run. Just want to be able for Skip & Cindy to associate with the club and get to know the people. Also for to count toward their membership runs. And to see what the club does for helping the Forest Service is a good thing. thumbs-up

I will be there but Jeepless. I'm going to ride with Dale. My TJ's transfer case is shot. I ordered an Atlas transfer case today and it will take 7 to 8 weeks until they can deliver it. It's going to be a short wheeling season for me unless I take my F150 and follow Rich.wink

I am going to try and make it. Sarge is alive and this would be a good little adventure. I don’t have new skids and such yet. Might not have lockers but going to try my best to get the compressor installed on Saturday. I have had a lot of changes in my life the past month. Some of you know some don’t. But it’s one of the best decisions I have made.  Hope too see you all Sunday. I will try my best. I will have a open seat. I will have my 3 kiddos so we can put the 2 boys to work.

At this point we are planning to be there.

I finally have an appointment to visit with my mom after two months.

So if we go, we will head back down the hill around Noon-ish to make the appointment.

I used to wheel a lot. . .
