Strawberry Trail Fall Maintenance Run (1 of 3 chances for fall maintenance run) 10/13/24
I forgot to post this after our last meeting so I will also do an additional fall run on 11/17/24 AND there will be another forest service show-and-tell at some point midweek

Sunday October 13, 2023 will be our second trail maintenance run of the year on Strawberry Pass Trail. This is the trail the club sponsors. To maintain member status you must make at least 1 trail maintenance run a year (as I dropped the ball on posting this, there will be at least two additional chances to meet the requirement in the next 2 months, one on 11/17/24 and another mid-week chauffer some forest service people through with dates TBD). Our key goals for this run are bucking trees down in the area, erosion control, and getting documentation of fire remediation actions needed.. We will use the club's HAM PosseV2 frequency for communications, so bring your HAM radios.

Also, as a reminder, maintenance runs are a great opportunity for anyone needing to host a bbq/pot-luck for membership to do so. If you plan to do so, please post so folks know and can contribute.

Meet at the Subway/Shell station in Pollock Pines off of Hwy 50 and Sly Park exit at 8:30am. We will meet and after a quick drivers meeting will head up to the trailhead about 9:00am.

I will be on this run. Not government certified with a chain saw, so hopefully hand tools is all we will need.

I got my Baofeng today… will there be someone who can help me get the club channel loaded or is that just for official members?

Someone there in the morning will be able to help you program it, or ther is always YouTube! The instructions that come with them aren't the best.

If you didn't break your truck frame, that would help.

Got home safe. Thanks for a fun trip. That said, some of you need to learn to drive mountain roads. Lol. Chris and I were not driving that fast on 88 or MET.

Glad you had fun Kelly... and you made it to the top! I was a bit nervous at times, but had a lot of fun and really appreciated the patience and support along the way. So many great tips, friendly coaching and generous assistance airing up for the drive home. Such a great bunch of folks... a really nice first trip out.

Kelly... here's a fun pic of the Yotas at the top:
