Sunday November 17, 2024 will be our second trail maintenance run of the year on Strawberry Pass Trail. This is the trail the club sponsors. To maintain member status you must make at least 1 trail maintenance run a year (as I dropped the ball on posting the first fall run this is a second opportunity AND another mid-week chauffer some forest service people through with dates TBD will happen). Our key goals for this run are bucking trees down in the area, erosion control, and getting documentation of fire remediation actions needed. We will use the club's HAM PosseV2 frequency for communications, so bring your HAM radios.
Also, as a reminder, maintenance runs are a great opportunity for anyone needing to host a bbq/pot-luck for membership to do so. If you plan to do so, please post so folks know and can contribute.
Meet at the Subway/Shell station in Pollock Pines off of Hwy 50 and Sly Park exit at 8:30am. We will meet and after a quick drivers meeting will head up to the trailhead about 9:00am.

We made it home a little after 7:00 as well!
Kris, thank you for leading in a fantastic event! The views were stunning. It was so much fun to clear the logs and to go and see our trail. It was beautiful.

Had a great time on the run, thanks to everyone who helped me out......first time for me driving on so much snow on a trail. Made it home by 7:00 but hit a deer going 60 mph on 50 west bound after Shingle Springs on the way. I am sure the deer did not survive. Did not see it after I hit it. I ended up on the center median, somehow, no memory of those 15 seconds. It must have hit the driver's front wheel. My guardian Angels must have been in the Jeep with me, I was very lucky. Not injured, didn't hit any one else, the Jeep looks fine and drives fine, after all it is a Jeep, but my Electronic Stability Control Light is on and my steering wheel is canted about 15 degrees. Talked to Scott at
Cloakworks, he thinks something is bent on the steering assembly. Off to spend more $$$ next week to get it fixed. Glad everyone enjoyed the cookies.
