This trip will require two days of driving to get there and two days to drive back. The days for trails would be Sept 8 - 13. I am willing to extend the dates of the trip if there was interest of other folks. I have never been to this area, it would all be new to me. The primary goal is to drive the Black Bear Pass Trail on one of the days. There are numerous other awesome trails in the area that range from easy to difficult. I will not be selecting any trail requiring more than 4 wheel drive and moderate lift (easy to moderate) unless there is interest of others. I have numerous books of trails of the area and On X maps has many as well to select from Lodging would either be VRBO or camping or combination of both depending on interest. I will not list an agenda at this time unless there is interest of others. The trail selection is wide open depending on the interest of folks who would be going.

Sept 6 - Bandero Mine/Clear Lake, Kendall Mountain
Sept 9 - Imogene Pass, Yankee Boy Basin
Sept 10 - Ophir Pass, Alta Lakes
Sept 11 - Black Bear Pass, Alta Ghost Town
Sept 12 - California Gulch, Lake Como, Gladstone Network
Sept 13 - Corkscrew Gulch, Prospect Gulch, Gladstone Network
Sept 14 - Drive home
Sept 15 - Drive home
If the group is interesed, time can be made to explore the local museums and visitior centers.

Thank you for your concern........Yes it is on our trail list. I have researched it thoroughly. Hundreds of folks drive it every year in vehicles not as capable as mine and Tony's. There are tour groups that run the trail in Gladiators that have been modified with seats in the back for four people to sit, check out some of the tour websites and youtube videos. I have talked with a Colorado Jeep Club member who has run it many times in a Rubicon like mine without problems. The challenges are the steps at the beginning and the switchbacks that require multiple point turns. The greatest challenge is keeping one's eyes on the trial and not the scenery so not to drive off the edge of the trail, lol. Reports on On X report that the trail opened this weekend and is in excellent condition.
And yes, I have seen the videos - we do not plan on getting out of our vehicles leaving it in gear or leaving the E brake off, lol. You would not find this trail difficult at all with your experience. Our VRBO has room if you are interested in making the trip.
