This looks like a fun event! Bear Valley OHV has some great views. Not a super difficult trail... I did it in my 118" wheelbase Tacoma with 35s and limited slips no problem. A couple of fun steep inclines and declines, a couple of small boulder piles. Plus, Bocce Ball and BBQ at the end! Here is the email that was sent out...

We’d love for you to join us for some great 4 Wheeling and fun and food at Tahoe Donner here in Truckee, CA.  On Saturday, September 16th, the Tahoe Donner 4 Wheel Drive Club will hold its 3rd annual Sierra 4x4 Trails and Ales.  The single day event will begin with an exciting and challenging trail run of the Bear Valley OHV located about 10 miles north of Truckee.

Following the trail run, all participants are invited to join us at Northwood’s Clubhouse at Tahoe Donner for some fun activities.  The Clubhouse has Bocce Ball, Horseshoes, Volley Ball and Corn Hole and we will have some music and a cash bar.  The cash bar will include authentic handcrafted ales and beer from Cool Beerwerks, a micro-brewery owned and operated by two of our Club members.  Then at 5:30PM we will have a delicious BBQ buffet under the tent behind the Northwood's Clubhouse.

So here are the details:

Who:  Any 4x4 that has good ground clearance and is not a wide model vehicle like a pick-up truck.  Several sections of the trail are very narrow and there are some challenging hill climbs and rocks to get over.  However, all the major obstacles have bypasses.  Stock Jeeps can and have done this trail with no problems.  Each trail run will be led by an experienced Club Member and we will have spotters and winches at the more challenging obstacles.

When: September 16th, trail runs begin at 10AM and 10:30AM.  You will receive details on how to get to the Bear Valley OHV after you register.

Food:  The BBQ buffet includes:

  • Caesar Salad
  • BBQ Pork Ribs
  • Bone-in Chicken Breasts
  • Texas Baked Beans
  • Veggie Pasta Salad

Cost:  The cost for the trail run and buffet dinner is $40 per person for adults and $20 per person for children 12 and under.

How to Register:  Visit our web site at td4wheelers.org to register for the event.  You will be able to pay for the event using your credit card and wrist bands will be given to participants as they enter the Bear Valley trail as proof of payment.  Please register by September 3rd so we can plan appropriately for food and drinks.

We hope to see you on September16th!!!!
