OfflineThis trip is for anyone not going on the Rubicon camping trip that is interested in some overlanding day runs around Virginia City. I will be driving up on Friday June 20 and leaving on Tuesday June 24. I will be based in a VRBO, no camping planned, and hope to explore the following runs. I have not been on any of these runs so they will all be new to me. These runs are all rated easy to moderate.
- Friday June 19. Drive to Virginia City
- Saturday June 21. Virginia City Loop
- Sunday June 22. Ophir Grade, Jumbo Grade and McClellan Peak
- Monday June 23. Pony Express Trail and 6 Mile Beach Trail
- Tuesday June 24. Head home
This schedule is very flexible if there are different runs and interests of others.
Please post if interested.

Correction to the Friday date....should be Friday June 20 not Friday June 19. Sorry for any confusion.
Jeff - I believe I can make the Saturday & Sunday runs...Monday is pending. Where do you plan to meet Saturday morning so I can meet up with you?
What are your overnight plans?

Jeff - did you resolve your death wobble issue?
Guy, yes I think it is resolved. John and Jayson have been helping me fix my Jeep. I had worn parts in the front steering. John recommended the same parts he used to fix his TJ. I bought the RockJock tie rod and drag link kit. Due to my vacation and scheduling issues for us, Jace ended up installing it himself without our help because I had left my Jeep at his house for us to work on together. I had previously done the brakes and after Jace installed the steering kit, I replaced the outer hubs at his recommendation earlier this week due to wear. I also installed a new steering stabilizer this week. I'm taking it in on Monday for an alignment after I get home from a conference in Anaheim this week. I didn't experience any death wobble driving it home from Jace's home (a 30 minute drive) so I think it should be good after the alignment.

OfflineGuy and I explored the Lagomarsino petroglyphs out of Virginia City today. Took a more difficult trail to get there following electrical transmission lines. Traveled through two picturesque mountain valleys and crossed several small streams without incident or breakage. Petroglyphs were plentiful and awesome. Windy and rain showers coming back to Virginia City. All safe and sound.

OfflineHad a great day, super clear, sunny with minimal wind. We went up Ophir Grade to the McClellan Peak Trail that ended at a Lookout Tower, incredible views of Washou Lake and Mt Rose then down Goni Road nearly to Carson City. Easy to moderate trail that went through a awesome aspen grove with a small stream. No damage or incidents, made it back to Virginia City for dinner.

OfflineWe ran the Brunswick Canyon trail today. Easy trail through a tree lined canyon next to a small creek that we had to cross several times. We picked up the trail close to Carson City and exited by the Johnson OHV area. Very clear with minimal wind, mild temperatures. No damage or incidents. We will be heading home tomorrow morning.

OfflineI 2nd the motion on some great runs through some beautiful areas that I had no idea existed. We got turned around a couple of times & landed up on some challenging trails but got back on track by the end of the days. There are so many old mining roads out there, it's hard to pick the right roads & determine where it lands up. the food, accommodations in Virginia City were excellent. Ran into 4 people the 1st day, 2 the 2nd & 2 the 3rd (except at the end), so we pretty much had the runs to ourselves. I would do these runs again & more, thanks Jeff for the enjoyable days.
