We got "voted" into the parade even though they were already booked!

They need 4 vehicles - 3 carrying single rider dignitaries and 1 carrying 4 dignitaries.  --- Does anyone have a rig that can haul 4??

We can have a total of 8 rigs, so the remaining 4 would be in a separate group.  We need a theme for our group and I put out there how we work with the Forest Service and promote "Leave No Footprint".  (This was in a conversation happening minutes before they met to vote if we could join, I was scrambling for ideas.)

Being interactive with the crowd, mainly the kids, is a requirement.  So, I let her know we would run our Forest Service magnets, have music playing from one or two rigs, and hand out kid-oriented "flyers" that promote good stewardship of our land with a piece of candy stapled on it.  She loved that idea.

Krissy also asked if we could decorate our rigs in something that represents the 4th - red, white, and blue - of course.

Any takers guys?? Please let me know as soon as you can, Krissy is scrambling to get this finalized.

Thanks!

Whoa!  So we weren't in the parade, but we are hauling dignitaries again?

It would be fun to take the top off the Bronco for the first time.  But we would only be able to haul 1 dignitary.  Hauling 4 would need to be a larger vehicle with no top.

This coming Saturday.

It looks like very limited responses here.  I'm unsure what Lynda is going to do.  They have their jeep.  I believe last year, Kris hauled a family in his Jeep.

We may need to confirm people at this point since we've committed.

I've sent a message to Krissy and when she gives me details I will post them here.

Thanks, everyone.

P.S. We have the Forest Service Stickers for your rigs and I'm making flyers to hand out to the crowd to "interact with the kids" as we pass.  "Leave no Footprint as you enjoy the great outdoors is the theme."

Would anyone object to using club funds to purchase the cardstock and ink for printing 500 flyers and candy for the handouts at the parade?  Approximately $105.00

Here are the Details!!  I will bring printed copies for each of you.

Remember to decorate your rigs as much as possible and if you want to play loud fun music you can!

Historic Folsom’s Hometown Parade 2024, June 29

Event Information
Entry Name: Jeeps

Entry Contact is responsible for ensuring all entry participants receive a copy of these instructions.

Staging Check-in: This area will be clearly marked with Signage and a pop-up tent.

Check in Location: Intersection of Coloma and Natoma Street near La Rosa Blanca 402 Natoma Street, Folsom.

Report to Staging Area: Bring this paper and report to the staging area at the assigned arrival time. You will be greeted by our volunteers at this location in Bright Yellow EVENT vests. They will assist you.

All entries must check in at the staging table to pick up their parade packet. The parade packet will give you your entry# to be placed prominently on display for judging. Your entry number will be noted in chalk on the asphalt.

Staging Time: Your assigned staging time is listed above; this is your arrival time.  #52 8:50 AM

Staging begins promptly at 8am and is staggered based on entry number. The streets are narrow and only allow us to line up in a one-way direction. To ensure orderly line up you must arrive at your assigned time listed above. If you arrive late, it may be difficult for you to get to your assigned staging location as other entries may block your access. If you are more than 15 min late, we may not be able to accommodate your entry.

Staging Area: Historic District neighborhood – please be kind to residents and leave area clean. Do not block driveways!

Only parade entries and participants may gather in the Staging Area. Only those vehicles that are in the Parade line up will be allowed to enter the staging area. The only entrance to staging is at the intersection of Coloma and Natomas Streets. If you are dropping off parade participants or marching / walking in the parade, please see parking instructions detailed
below.

Parade Start Time: 9:30am / Late arrival entries may be turned away
Official Start Location: Scott Street and Sutter Street
Finish Location: Reading Street and Sutter Street
Approximate Length of Parade: 1 to 1 ½ hours / .5 miles
Parade End Time: 11 am

Participant Parking: You have permission to park 2 cars per parade entry in a designated event parking lot. We have ample parking
reserved for entry participants. A volunteer will monitor the parking lot to ensure usage by entries vs general public. If you have a
LARGE GROUP- PLEASE CARPOOL. PARKING IS LIMITED. LARGE GROUPS- MAY PARK AT RODEO GROUNDS. Rodeo grounds are just a
few short blocks from the staging area.
Designated Event Parking for you: 316 Natoma St (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) 909 Mormon St (Granite School) 402 Natoma St (La Rosa
Blanca)

Parade Dismount/Conclusion: The parade route terminates at Reading St and Sutter St. The parade route concludes at an open to public road.
You will be responsible for determining when to safely release your participants from your group.
Our Recommendations:
Walking Groups: Use the crosswalk at Sutter and Reading to cross to the light rail lot. There is a large cement area with benches
where you can gather your group or disperse to watch the parade.
Road Safe Vehicles: Directed left up Reading Street. Turn left on Figueroa or Mormon and disperse from there.
Large Floats: Directed left up Reading Street. Turn left on Figueroa or Mormon and head back to your staging locations to drop off
participants or disassemble your float as needed.
Horses/Animal Groups: Directed right on Reading Street, Turn Right on Leidesdorff Street and carefully proceed back to staging to
load animals.

There is no shuttle service at the end of the parade. It is your responsibility to safely return to your vehicle.
Restrooms: There will be a porta potty located at the corner of Coloma and Sutter St (during the staging time). Other locations are
Powerhouse Pub lot, Hacienda Lot & Wool/Sutter Lot, and parking garage & near the Chamber.

Review Stand: There will be a reviewing stand on the balcony of the Gaslight Company with the honorable John McGinness as our
guest announcer and our 4 judges. Additionally, there are announcers on both the Balcony of 607 Sutter Street and 805 Sutter St, the
balcony above Hop Sing. All announcers will read your entry information from your entry form. Please make sure your entry is identified with a large banner or sign or entry number so the announcer reads the correct description. He will also improvise a bit. If
you will be performing in front of the reviewing stand, we ask that you limit your performance to no more than 30 seconds unless
you have prior approval.

Spacing: It is imperative that you remain 2 car lengths distance from the group in front of you. There will be some stops and starts depending on short performances in front of 607 Sutter, Gaslight and 805 Sutter, Hop Sing. Watch for slowdowns and keep
2 car lengths distance.

Please stay after the parade and enjoy our unique and charming historic district.

We appreciate all you are doing to make the Historic Folsom Hometown Parade FUN and EXCITING for all!

P.S. We don't have to tote any dignitaries! They have enough vintage cars so we are good to go on our own!

See ya'll there.

Thanks for the update Lynda.  So, 8:50 AM at La Rosa Blanca.

And were called "Jeeps" and not the Gold Hills Posse 4x4 Club?  I wonder if we can update that?

My Bronco can go last then...  Ha!
