OfflineHi All,
I'd like to attend the July 26th, Bear Valley Loop Trail Run.
I'm relatively new to the sport, so I'm looking for all the guidance I need to attend and complete the run successfully.
Current specific questions are:
 1. Directions to the Loop trailhead?
 2. I understand that we meet at a Shell station in Truckee. I see two on the map. Which is the correct location?
 3. What time does everyone meet up at the station? Is it best to get there early?
 4. I'm running a 2018 JK 2-Door with a V-6 and 4:46 diffs. Do I need to bring extra gas?
 5. How long does it take to complete the loop?
Any other guidance is welcomed.
Thanks in advance.

OfflineBear Valley Loop Trail (Sierra Trek pre-run) Saturday July 26th: This is a club run open to anybody with a stock, high clearance 4X4. This will be a pre-run for the Sierra Trek Outer Limits run that our club is leading two weeks later in August. The purpose of the run is to evaluate trail conditions and do planning and any necessary trail maintenance in preparation for the Outer Limits Run. Typically we have done some minor pruning and we mark the trail with flagging for the Outer Limits Run. Please bring the usual trail maintenance tools such as saws, lopper, shovels, etc. Trimming brush typically the main need.
The Bear Valley Loop Trail is rated as an easy trail. It is a combination of dirt roads, dirt trails and rock trails. All of the winch hills have easy bypasses for those who want to avoid the winch hills. The staging area for the trail is located about 20 minutes north of Truckee on Hwy 89. The trail tends to be dusty and does have some brushy areas that may need to be trimmed back. Mild cowboy pinstriping can occur.
Run details: Meet at the Truckee Shell gas station on Hwy 89, just south of I-80 (10278 CA-89, Truckee) at 8:30am on Saturday July 26th. Plan to depart at 9:00AM sharp or sooner if everyone is ready to go. Staging and drivers meeting will be on Cottonwood Road just east of Hwy 89 near Little Truckee Summit (note: there are vaulted toilets on the opposite side of Hwy 89 at the Little Truckee Summit OHV/Snowmobile staging area if in need). We will stop for lunch along the trail or ideally at the Bear Valley Campground which has vaulted toilets. We should be off the trail mid to late afternoon depending on how much maintenance is needed. Ideally there will be some time to play on the winch hills. This is an opportunity for anyone who needs to do their member BBQ in order to become a full member. Â
