Ok, a friend is looking at an 00 Wrangler. It's already built and cheap. However, one "feature" of the rig is that it appears to have a HP 44. I recall problems a prior club participant had, but wondered if anyone else has opinions on the strength/durability of the axle. It is running alloy shafts, a full floater kit, disk brakes, 4.88's, and an Ox locker.
Thoughts?

It sounds like you are saying it has the HP 44 in the rear ?

$7500 is a pretty good deal based on the lift, winch, cage, ARB, and axles...I would do it if the rest of the Jeep is in decent shape like the motor, tranny, and TC..$7500 is about what you would pay for a bone stock Jeep of that year..

I saw the jeep, and he did buy it.
It looks like a HPD44. The jeep needs some work, but has a lot of nice stuff on it. It has flush mount LED tail lights, steel corners, new 35" tires, a CB, full poison spyder cage, manual hubs, a front ARB, an ARB compressor, rock lights, a Warn M8274 winch, 4.88 gears, sliders, and other stuff.
