2013 Spring Maintenance Run - Saturday May 11th

The Spring Maintenance run is this Saturday, May 11th. Since this is the spring run and the snow level is uncertain, we'll cover the trail from the 50 side only. We'll meet at the Chevron/Market/Deli at Fresh Pond.
Meet at 8:30am and leave by 9am.

We should plan on doing some of the following items:

Litter removal
Dragging smaller downed trees off the trail
Cutting larger trees with chainsaws
Blocking un-authorized bypasses
Trimming overgrown brush
Checking the Culverts for blockage

I will need to ride along with someone, my Jeep is still down, I don’t think it will be ready in time.
Remember that you can ride with other members as well. Bring at least a garbage bag and some gloves.

Other helpful items are
Shovels
Rakes
Loppers
Chainsaw
Pry bars
Pruning shears.

For members/active prospects - 1 maintenance run attendance is a requirement under our by-laws, so if you cannot make the fall run on Saturday, October 13th, you should plan to attend this one.

Attendees so far:
George
Tom & Ronie
Bill
The Fountain Four
Austin
Greg
Brad
John

Also – bring a sack lunch and plenty of water

I don't know if I'm going yet.

IF I go, I'll only go to V-rock. That will be my turnaround point. Not that I don't want the challenge again, just in the interest of time. πŸ˜€

So I'm a "maybe" at this time and should know by Wednesday.

No, just this one. I closed the thread started last night. The other is announcing both Work Days.

Ronie and I will be there ... possibly have some assistance with us.

I love how your original post date is from 1969.

I'm going to try to make this one. Uncertain if the rest of the family is comming.

Um, fresh pond is not the shell station in pollock pines. It's the Chevron after that on the right directly off 50, Big sign says fresh pond. Between the sly park exit and ice house road.

Um...what?

I'll be there too. George, do you need a seat?

I'll be there but I need to be back in EDH by 3 pm.

I can stop by my cabin and grab my big saw if its needed. I know David has a saw and is certified!

I know David has a saw and is certified!

"Buff Boys", Matthew & Timothy are certified also. So we'll have plenty of cutters

If I can't build it, then it's something that should be bought.

I'd love a seat! It's a long walk . . . . .

I'll either grab a seat for the return trip from someone else or we might even be finished by then, we'll see.

I am planning on attending the run, along with wife, and kid. Is this open to anyone, or members/prospects only? I have 2 friends interested in coming along to help out. Actually, I guess I'm included in that, as I haven't made prospect status yet!

The club's history has always been everyone is welcome! This specific run is a maintenance run so we do a lot more "stopping and working" than wheeling. If everyone is ok with it, you are more than welcome to attend.

I don't know if the suggested items list is in this thread. Here are some things to show up with if you have them (and the space for them):

Gloves
trash bag
loppers
hedge trimmer
Chainsaw
protective gear
shovels
Pick axe
pry bar

At a minimum, gloves and a good attitude will make for a fun day.
