We're in.
Dial your rear sway bar links all the way in so you can test them on the run!
I believe your gas tank skid has to be dropped for it it be trimmed.
This may be a dumb question, but if you clearance the gas tank skid, wont there be a better chance the drive line hits the tank directly? I wonder why it hits in the first place. I guess the lateral movement is a result of having coils back there vs. leafs. I read where longer bump stops is the cure. Just my 2 cents. I'm looking forward to seeing y'all again. Thanks for taking and posting all those pics!

Is it the stock driveline or is it aftermarket? If stock, might be better to get an aftermarket driveline rather than trim the skid.

Rear bump stop extensions are simply reducing travel to solve the problem, which really isn't solving the problem.
The driveline never hit the gas tank before the mod. The problem is with the aftermarket skid plate manufacturer. They didn't design their product (or actually test it) correctly. Trimming the skid won't affect tank safety because the original tank was fine before the mod. If the skid is the cover up style, you'll still retain the factory skid for protection in the corner. If it's not the cover up style, your still ok because there is virtually no risk of a rock hitting the corner of the tank without first damaging other stuff like the driveline or rear axle.
A quick trim should get them trail ready again.

Hope everyone got a chance to see the pics I posted. Only did about 300 of the 1900+ but it still seemed like plenty.
Took the rig to On the Road Trucks and Marc got our lockers fixed again. As for fixing the skid plate, we're not opposed to trimming it down but unfortunately the closest equipment we have to do the job is a finger nail file and a hammer (maybe on the hammer, that's not yet confirmed), so we might need to bribe some of ya'll with a tri tip for help on this one.

Can you take some pics so we can see if the tank has to be dropped?

I pulled up a map of the area and colored in the trails Brad listed as well as some other features as reference. I will bring some 11"x17" copies to the run for people who want them. Please pardon the sloppy markup, I may have time to create some better quality maps before the run.
Additionally I work with ESRI and Google GIS software so I will be providing some data to Kevin to see if we can't improve the trails section of the site.

Bumping this run so I can get an interest count.
The plan is to do some interesting stuff while we are up there.
First, this is a maintenance run so please bring tools, gloves, loppers, chainsaws, cordless hedge trimmers, tree limbing saws, and anything else you feel could be used up there.
Next, I'd like to not only explore these trails while we work them, but note a couple of "innacuracies" with their map and trail system. I can explain more when we meet up.
Also, there aren't any vehicle build requirements for this run. Be sure you have proper front and rear recovery points and bring a proper recovery strap (and D-ring).
Last, if you don't have a vehicle, you can still attend. We will have plenty of seats.
Let's meet at Fresh pond Chevron at 830 and plan to leave by 9. If the whole group is there earlier, we will leave earlier - so POST UP so we know to look for you!

I am in. I will be bringing some printed maps for people. I will see about bringing some larger format satellite photos and maps to markup with any trail interconnections the USFS maps don't have.
If anyone has a gps that tracks routes to internal storage as .gpx, .loc, .mps, or any other file type then bring it. I can convert the files into GIS and add them to the maps for future use. I will be trying another iphone app to do the same but I haven't found one that works well as of yet.

Excellent! We will be exploring and clearing some connecting trails so we will want to document them.
I have a GPS in my jeep, but it's not as nice as the handheld I used to own.
