There is about 6 inches of rutted snow at silverfork and about a foot at 88.  Vehicles have been driving through and the forest service/CHP hasn't been enforcing the snopark rules. I will reach out to the forest service and see if they want us to inform people or just do a run and pull stuck people out.

As to the snow, I have been watching the forecast for the first part of this week and currently it is sitting at a dusting at our typical run elevation. There is an atmospheric river forecast to hit the PNW so all it needs to do is shift a few hundred miles south and we will get blasted with rain and snow at higher elevations.

At present I am anticipating this run to mostly be a patrol up to the gate and maybe explore some of the open roads on the way down (9N30 or 11N46 are legally open and make good loops). If it turns into a solid snow run then yay, if not we still get out and do some exploring.

Have they replaced the bridge on 11n46? Last time Jamie and I drove down there it was washed out.

At this point, I think Seanette and I (and our Jeep) are almost certainly going to be there.

The National Weather Service is predicting at Strawberry for rain/snow from this Thursday night through Tuesday morning; 90% for Friday & Saturday. So it will snow, but it's not known how much rain will mix in. If the temperature stays down enough, it may be worth driving up & seeing (?).

My initial reaction to seeing this post was to ask you to specify which Strawberry.  There are three different towns in California by that name.  I've been to two of them.

But really, it's pretty clear which Strawberry is close enough to Pollock Pines to be relevant, so I am assuming that you are referring to the one along the 50, and that you are clear that you are looking at weather forecasts for that Strawberry.  Seanette and I have passed through that Strawberry a few times, but she was not with me the one time I actually stopped and checked out their general store.

The other Strawberry that Seanette and I have been to, thrice, now, is along the 108, toward the Sonora Pass.  The general store there has an owner that makes excellent fudge, which they sell at the store; available flavors being subject to his random whims.

The third Strawberry, to which we have never been, in in the Bay Area.

There is no need to specify which strawberry since our club’s trail is off of 42 mile at strawberry on hwy 50.  If you hear strawberry it is that strawberry.  Any other Strawberry, like the one off of hwy 4, should be specified.  So you are safe to assume our strawberry is the strawberry going forward.

In the National Weather Service website, type in "Strawberry, CA" & is identified as "Strawberry El Dorado County".

Serious question!

Are people bringing wood (and lighter fluid) for a fire, or is the a propane event?

This tells me whether ! can save some jeep space!

I can bring some wood, and some accelerant. I don't have a portable pit.

Ok.  Let's go with wood.  Thanks guys!  And we don't need a ring if we are in snow.

Looking like it well could be a wet sloppy snow on MET tomorrow. Should be interesting. See everyone in Pollock Pines around 8am.

Seanette's not going to make it, but I am.

To what channel should I set my GMRS?  it's on 16 for now.

We’re home. We dropped that girl off safe at Safeway. We may have saved her life. She locked herself out of her car by the creek off North South and was thinking of walking in the cold rain to find cell service.

So, there must be a story, here to tell.  Perhaps not much of a story, but a story nevertheless.

Anyway, someone who was in potential danger, in need of help, it is a good thing that she got help.

I'll have more to post later.
