If you don't have your HAM license just use the GMRS/FRS frequencies on these radios but have a few of the local HAM repeaters included for emergency communication. I think Jamie has his laptop and can program the radios with the relevant frequencies.
I'm not sure many of us know how to use these radios to access HAM repeaters in an emergency. This might be something worth doing a training on.
I agree with Jeff on emergency access. I have 2 - avofeng(?) radios, which I have been using on various runs. If I use the club's 151.760 frequency, is it legal to use? if not, what does it take to become a legal user? This will simplify my misunderstanding of what should be a straightforward subject.

We had another great snow patrol day this last weekend. We had great weather had to go a little farther up to get to the snow but we found it and it was great. It was a great day with friends and got to pull someone out of the snow that was there from Saturday till Sunday when we showed up to help him out.
