It's my birthday and I'll be camping off the coast.

BTW, I liked the large room at Mark and Monica's and think it would work well for our regular meetings. The food was fantastic and included options other than just Pizza (like burgers). The only issue was that the room is booked on our normal meeting day the 2nd Thursdays of the month. They had other days available if the club would consider changing meeting dates.

Parking was the only downside in my opinion. It was somewhat limited which requires some to park on the street or neighboring lots.

If this comes up during the meeting this spot has my vote.

As a tow truck driver I know that parking in lots that your not doing business in can lead to your vehicle being towed and that's not cheap. Just keep this in mind if we decide to make this our new meeting place...

Also consider the fact that we often have topless vehicles or ones with tube doors, etc. that can easily be gotten into so vehicle security is something to consider when looking at the parking situation.

That is a valid concern.  There are several other 4wd clubs that host their meetings there.  The Boonie Bouncers were there when we were.  Open vehicles were parked there so I'd assume others are not seeing problems.

The restaurant is located on a corner, and the non busy street is a cul de sac.  Plenty of legal parking for those who chose not to be risk takers.  Most businesses  on that street are 8-5.  So they are closed when we have our meetings.

Just to be clear ahead of time.  This meeting will discuss the 2026 monthly club meeting location, as well as 2025 holiday party options several club members have been exploring.

This will be a good meeting to make!

Not sure if I'll make this one.  My daughter ruptured her achilles playing soccer last week and is having surgery this week.  If i make it or not will all depend on how the week goes and how she is feeling.

Mykey is out until the end of the year due to shoulder surgery. I'm assuming it's her older sister who plays soccer at American River.

Jeff, you would be correct.  Samm got hurt only 1 game into her second season at college.  She said she jumped and when she came down she felt it pop.  About 6 other girls on the field said they heard it also.  Just what every parents dreams of.  2 kids with season ending surgeries within 4 months.  Mykey is still on track to be cleared by the beginning on December, Samm is looking at June.

I'm so sorry for the bad luck.  Hopefully both are back in action soon!

Had some stuff come up this week so I can't make it now.

Gil, I have your radio programmed, if you need it sooner than the next meeting let me know and we can connect.

For the officer update, I am still seeing some weirdness in the unread flag on the forum, it's not as bad as it was but still not perfect. I have figured out that the controls to post pictures in the new gallery is permissions related, only Admins have access at the moment. I have not had time to try and figure out why though, hopefully I can before the next meeting!

Following up on the conversation we had during the Sep Club Meeting about potential club meeting locations. I dropped by Dad's Kitchen in Fair Oaks (Sunset & Hazel) and talked with someone there about options. They have an enclosed area (picture below) that they said was used for as many as 100 people in the past. It is strangely indoors and outdoors, but looks to be kind of climate-controlled. They have a pretty diverse menu focused on comfort food and they have a bar. They are open and serving food until 8:30, but the bar is open until after 9. I'm not married to this as an option, but figured some of us can scout options so we have more choices.

They said they usually get a refundable deposit to reserve the space ($200), but there would likely be other options for a regular event. They said the space would be generally available to just us, but if we were a small group on a particular night and they were busy, they might seat folks in the space. They have different options for serving food, but it could be similar to Round Table where people order or they don't.

The owner's name is Sukhy and her number is 916-835-7339. I was talking with someone working there, not with her. If there's interest I can contact her to get additional information.
