OfflineThis post is for Sierra Trek Main Event which begins Thursday, August 6, 2026 - Sunday, August 9, 2026. Romika and I plan on arriving on Monday, August 3, 2026 to set up early and hold some spots. We will need a list of who plans on camping and dates so we can save spots and ensure the Posse remains together. The areas Jeff secured for us last year was really nice so we will try for that again.
Post up if you are planning to camp and dates please. There is a cost for camping but the cost was very minimal.
The cub will again be leading the Outer Limits Run on the Bear Valley Loop Trail on Saturday August 8, 2026. You can attend Sierra Trek as a volunteer (called a committee member) or as a regular attendee. Committee members receive a discounted registration rate of $125 per person (regular registration is $300/person but there are lower rates for camping and meals only; i.e. no 4X4 run included). The registration fee for committee members includes meals plus one committee run in addition to the Outer Limits Run. Committee members can also pay an extra fee to participate in an additional run. Meals include dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You are on your own for Thursday breakfast and all lunches. There are several new runs this year including some overlanding trips (link for run descriptions: https://cal4wheel.com/sierra-t.....scriptions).
There are a number of positions open for committee members. Since the club has agreed to lead the Outer Limits Run, it is important that we have six to eight rigs to assist in leading the run. In addition, there are a number of other committee positions that Sierra Trek is looking to fill. Those positions include but are not limited to helping cook or serve breakfast(s) or dinner(s), spotting/assisting on winch hills and a variety of other jobs.
If your are interested in becoming a committee member please post your area of interest in this thread (i.e. Outer Limits Run, winch hill/spotting aid, meals, etc.) or see Jeff R. with any questions. If you are interested in being a committee member please post the names in this thread of anyone in your group who would like to serve as a committee member. I will need to submit those names to the registration team and give you a special registration link in order for you to receive the committee member discount. Please do not share the committee member registration link with anyone else. Once I have a complete list of committee members I will submit that list to the registration team and will send you the committee registration link at that time. Cost for committee members is $125. You can sign up for additional runs or purchase apparel when you register online.
If you are registering as a regular individual (i.e. not as a committee member) here is the link: https://cal4wheel.com/events/sierra-trek. The standard registration fee is $300 per person plus $40 for any additional runs.
I will also be posting a separate thread in the future for a pre-run on the Bear Valley Loop Trail, which we will do a few weeks prior to Sierra Trek (probably July 26th). The Bear Valley Loop Trail is a moderate trail and this run would be open to anyone who wishes to attend, regardless if you are attending Sierra Trek or not. The purpose of the pre-run is to plan the Outer Limits Run and to do any necessary maintenance in order to make the Outer Limits Run safe and enjoyable for Sierra Trek attendees.

Sierra Trek is a Cal4Wheel event located in California’s beautiful Tahoe National Forest. This is a family-oriented event geared towards everything from stock 4x4s on guided historic and slightly challenging tours to fully built rock crawlers on Fordyce Creek Trail and everything in between. Stock vehicles should consider signing up for the Wednesday/Thursday Overnight, the Saturday Historic Run, the Outer Limits Run or the Signal Peak run. Moderately modified vehicles will love the beauty and the challenge of the intermediate run or the Signal Peak Run.
Fordyce Trail is an extremely technical and challenging trail, therefore is offered to the more modified vehicles requiring at least 35” tires and a minimum of one locker. Larger tires, two lockers and crawler gearing are all recommended to improve the overall participant experience on the Fordyce Trail runs. The surrounding area trails allow Sierra Trek to offer runs for less modified 4x4 vehicles.
As always, we love to embrace a family atmosphere and welcome the next generation of four-wheelers into the sport. We welcome everyone to main camp for a Cornhole Tournament, and a world class vendor show. Please feel free to explore the area and locate any one of the numerous geocaches. Come to camp at night for the campfire with a live band. Enjoy your favorite adult beverage from the bar while you make new friends and catch up with old ones. As always enjoy great food, a scenic environment and make lifelong memories. We look forward to seeing you at Sierra Trek.

Offline"There is a cost for camping but the cost was very minimal". That's because I covered the cost for almost everyone, haha! Actually, it was my pleasure but as discussed last year, since we are leading a run, because we have ample funds and because we have to pay for unoccupied campsites for several days to camp together as a club, let's discuss having the club cover our camping fees in the future for this event.

OfflineIt would be nice to save multiple spaces for the entire club especially if the club could sponsor that. Let's discuss this at the next meeting.
The website says the fees are:
$15/ site per night
$3 for extra vehicle per night
$1 for pets per night
And thanks for your support Jeff - physically, emotionally and now financially.
