My TJ had a cyl-6 misfire code too. It would sometimes also through cylinder 2 misfire codes as well. it was very frustrating, especially since my jeep only had 30K. I already had a reader so I was able to quickly identify the problem. I solved the problem by buying a new coil pack for $50 off Ebay and installing new plugs. I gave the buyer my old pack as a "spare" when I sold it to him. I told him the smog problem but that it did pass without being coded gross polluter. He was from Reno, and said "Nevada doesn't care, but thanks any ways"!

Got the head back from Bud Walmer's machine shop. He said it was bad and the valve seat was offset by almost a quarter of an inch in cylinder six. He did a vacuumtest prior to machinig and they all had significant leaks. Now she is purdy and should run like a top. Of course after I put everything back togeather. I'm dreading installing the intake and exhaust manifold. It was a pita to get off and I have no idea how I'm going to start the bottom bolts. We will see.

How's your compression? Bill can check it in his sleep now!
Yes we can check your compression but I doubt you will a have a similar situation to me. You actually care about your motor and maintain it.

I'm screwed! The motor needs a total rebuild. I drove the Jeep to Yuba City today for a class. As I arrived the check engine came on....again.... The code was cylinder six misfire 👿 . I have tried everything and the only thing left is a rebuild. Yes I could pull the piston drill hone the cylinder and put new rings on. This would only fix one cylinder and the rest of them are still beat to sh@#. It would be unethical and sleazy to knowingly sell a vehicle with a blown motor to anyone. So even though I can't afford it, I will be pulling the motor next week. I'm not sure how to get it to and from the machine shop, so I might ask for some assistance. Please excuse my but i'm not happy.
