Picked up the motor today from the machine shop. The long block is back togeather with a new rod and piston in cylinder six. The block was torn down checked, cleaned, honed, and reassembled with new bearings.
Turns out the rod was bent and the piston was cracked.
Got it home and back on Jeff's engine stand. Ready for reassembly.
I am going to put it back in on friday. I'm thinking work part friday evening. Great way to kick off the weekend!

Any one up for a work party tomorrow day/ night? My dad was in town and we were able to get the motor trans and tcase in the jeep. All we have to do tomorrow is plug in all the wires, hoses, and put the whole front end back together. I would love to fire the motor tomorrow night. Any one know any thing about re-installing the cam position sensor? I'm not sure i put it in right. I guess we will see when i try to start the jeep. :hack:

She's ALIVE! Thanks to Josh and Carl the beast is reborn. After hunting down all the connections the motor started on the first try. Why is it there is always a plug that has no mate and takes forever to find its place. Any way all that us left is to put on the hood install the bumper and winch. Then have a zip tie fiesta. I'm hoping to take it back to the smog shop monday or tuesday.
I also drove it tonight and she purrs like a kitten. The buyer will have a good ride.

Today I got the hood on and all the loose wires zip tied up. As soon as I thought i was in the the clear the engine threw another code! Evaporative emissions leak code 0456. So I rechecked all the vacuum hoses and found two that were loose so I put hose clamps to make sure those suckers wouldn't leak. I then put 80 miles on the jeep. The motor runs better than ever. The best thing is there were no more codes thrown! After all that driving I pulled into the smog shop and the drive cycle monitor still had two incomplete. 👿 They will only perform the test with one incomplete. No smog today. Maybe in the next couple of days. Cammie has volunteered to drive it to work tomorrow since I have daddy daycare duty tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed I can get her signed off.
